Follicle too big?

Well, I now know why I've felt like my ovary was going to explode. 1 dominant follicle measuring 31mm. It wasn't my usual doc today, and he kind of blew me off when I asked if that was too big. I know someone here has has really large follicles, but I am blanking on who. I'm worried I'm out this cycle and I haven't even done the IUI yet. (We are in the waiting room.).

    That does seem insanely large, I think my biggest was around 24mm and the Drs commented that that was large. How many follicles did you have TOTAL? Were you monitored prior to this? I'm a little confused as to why they started you on 100mg of Clomid when you made 2 follies yourself naturally? It just seems like they asking to waste a cycle, any Dr worth their salt will cancel an IUI with anything over 3 mature- Unless you are asking them to make you the next Octomom? 

    Have you done Clomid in the past? How was your lining this cycle? It seems like your Dr is cutting a lot of corners with you.

    I only had the one dominant follicle, and he said my lining was good. I'm unfortunately getting that feeling too. I'm also wondering why the 100 and I'm going to ask to go down to 50 next time. My regular doc wasn't there today, so I didn't get to ask a lot if questions. This was my first clomid cycle, but we've done femara before. This was the only monitoring (u/s before IUI) and I am definitely going to ask about more next time. I think part of it may be that we (like most of he clinics patients) have a 2hr drive each way to see them. I am doing 7DPO progesterone.

    That does seem super large, but I don't know much, nor have I experienced it before. I know that with my RE, I'm monitored every other day, which is annoying, but keeps me on track. I don't know what's normal monitoring with clomid. Hope you gets some andwers soon with your original doctor. Good luck!

    1st RE Visit: January 2014
    Cycling: 
    March 2014- 75iu follistim + trigger + progesterone + IUI = BFN and OHSS
    (8 million post wash 47% motility, 18mm/17mm/16mm/16mm/14mm follies)
    April/May 2014- Benched due to cysts/enlarged ovaries
    June 2014- 50iu follistim + trigger + progesterone + IUI = BFP!!
    (10 million post wash 60% motility, 20mm/19mm follies)
    Beta 1- 85 Beta 2- 2,752 - EDD 2/27/2015

    I have had huge follicles the last two cycles one 34mm in April and then a 30mm this past cycle. I felt out with the large follicle before I started too, the last cycle resulted in a chemical so I can't really say whether the large follie is a problem or not. Good luck, hope you get a better outcome than I did.

    TTC#1 May 2009- July 2010 on our own with no luck

    Started with RE in August 2010, dx with unexplained IF and then finally our 3rd IUI cycle using Follistim and Trigger resulted in our wonderful little man.  Born 12/2/11

    TTC#2 Never really prevented, but were careful early on as Dr. reccomended

    Surprise BFP 12/16/13, started progesterone immediately as first numbers came back low, but betas were good.  Progesterone wasnt enough. Natural MC 12/24/13.

    Back with RE as of January 2014...

    5/27/14- Chemical Pregnancy :(

    April 2015 IVF#1

    5/13/15- BFP, please stick LO!

    Oh and I'm a major Harry Potter Nerd :)

    I've not had one that big but I know not knowing the answers and not being able to ask your regular doc is frustrating :(

    Thank you @Designer303!  I was wracking my brain to try to remember who it was that had the huge follicles, and hoping you would respond!  Did you feel like your ovary was going to explode?  Mine has been so painful for days!  

    And of course this is the 2ww where I will be on vacation with my ILs the whole time.  :/  That should be fun.

    sorry it took me so long to reply, yes the huge follicles were painful up to O and for about 24 hours after O. Fx to you
