I think I need to whine a minute

I feel awful! I am in Hawaii right now (for business) and I have to walk a lot. Within 5 minutes of walking, my stomach starts to feel tight, I can feel myself waddling and my legs start to burn (and they are sore the rest of the day). I don't run out of breath but I get tired quick. I had just started a trek and suddenly wished I had wheelchair, it's that bad! Forget about lifting anything...I've lost all of my strength. I feel so weak and slow. I don't think I'm especially big so I don't think it's the size of my belly and I don't remember feeling this way with DD. With DD, I was working, walking, and feeling great up to about 36 weeks. I am only 20 weeks now and don't know how I'm going to make it! I know it's only going to get worse! On the plus side, the boys are kicking like crazy and I love it! :)

I guess I just want someone to be like "me too!" or "it'll get better." Anybody have any advice on how to relieve the pain in my legs? Thanks for reading...

  • I'm sorry yore feeling crummy, especially in Hawaii! I am with you. At only 23 weeks, I feel slower and more tired than I did with DS at 34 weeks! I am definitely waddling earlier too.

Maybe try getting some extra water and fluids to prevent the cramping/tightness?

  • I was feeling winded walking to the park with DD this morning! I also feel like I'm experiencing more pressure than I did with my first. I've actually considered getting a support belt and I'm only 23 weeks.  I never needed one with DD, and feel like my belly is about the same size.

I'm just trying to drink more water, especially now that its hot, and put my feet up when I can. Hope you can manage to enjoy Hawaii!!

I imagine having two babies growing in there has to wear you down quickly. I get tired super fast and I feel ridiculous because it is so early still.

I have one boss that loves for me to constantly come to his office to scan stuff one batch at a time. I had to tell him a month ago that all those trips were killing me!

I hope you find a way to enjoy the view and have fun with all those kicks!

  • I feel exactly the same! I was depressed about in SF because I just hurt so bad after walking a mile or two (and I'm a marathon runner!). I have Fibromyalgia, which obviously isn't being treated right now with medication, so that might be part of my problem, but it was like a switch was thrown at 12 weeks. I was 100% fine until then (still running 30 miles a week) and now I'm down to running a painful 12-15 a week. Surprisingly, after two days of having a hard time keeping up and feeling like my belly just was SO BIG and HEAVY, I ran a slow but pleasant 5K out there. I don't get it.

I'm concerned, too, about it getting worse as I get bigger. I'm just trying to get in exercise now while I can and I'm thankful when I have good days. It's against everything I know to do that (I never ever skipped runs before, and I was a solid 5/6 day-a-week exerciser), but there's nothing I can do about it, and it'll be temporary.

  • The walk from my office to my car is the garage is a daily struggle so I feel you. Especially because I try my best to take the stairs instead of the elevator. I feel that elevator days might be coming soon lol. I don't have much advice. Maybe stretching and a warm bath when your day is done. Hope you feel better.

  • I'm getting tired and slowing down with exercise, too. But considering what pregnancy does to your body--loosening joints, expanding your hips, making you front-heavy, etc.--it's not surprising that you would feel even more tired and aching now. My lower half has been aching for a while since I started walking again!

This is me too. I walk everyday (not far, but enough) and (after having a natural birth with DS) my vagina feels broken. Seriously. My ligaments don't feel like they're keeping anything together down there and it hurts so bad. My low back (sacral area) also hurts a lot and sounds crunchy at times.

  • I'm sorry you're feeling so uncomfortable.  Could you try one of the support bands to see if that helps with some of the cramping/back pain?  Good luck and enjoy Hawaii!

  • Twin mom here too, 22 weeks. For the past couple weeks, it seems like things get harder to do every day that goes by. I have a physical job, lots of walking and lifting, and I told my boss last week that they aren't going to get more than 2 more weeks out of me before I need to go on light duty.
I suggest getting a maternity support belt if you haven't already, Take lots of breaks, drink lots of water, but most importantly eat often. My energy burns off super fast unless I have a constant calorie flow haha. Good luck!
  • Thanks everyone! I will definitely look into getting a support belt! I feel better knowing Im not the only one but would rather none of us feel like crap. I appreciate the support!

and @sPurp13, THINKING about a 5K makes my legs hurt! Go you!

  • I hear you about getting a lot more tired quickly! And I also have two, and I feel this pregnancy is a lot more physically exhausting that with my first. I'm 23 weeks, and already slowing down. I'm having a hard time imagining what the rest of the pregnancy is going to look like!
