2 week old sick newborn

My daughter is only two weeks old and has gotten some sort of cold. She's so congested she can barely breathe/feed. No fever yet. Doctor said there is nothing you can really do when they are so young other then saline drops and suction. I know it's a cold because my two year old son has this same cold and gave it to her. I'm so scared for her and have been up the last two nights with her. Has this happened to any one else? I can't find anything on the internet about a baby this young getting sick . Not sure what to do. I'm just worried a cold or virus for a two week old will end up in hospitalization? Im really hoping not.

The only other thing that could be helpful is to turn your shower on really hot and sit in the bathroom with the door closed. The stream will help loosen the mucus to make iteasier to suction.

DS2 had a cold around 2 weeks as well. We used saline drops and the nose frida to get the mucus out of his nose. Well wishes.

Try having her sleep on an incline. Also a humidifier will help. Try not to worry too much (easier said than done, I know!). Both my boys got their first colds around this age and they weren't ever that bothered by it. No hospitalization required.

This may be a dumb question, but do you do the saline drops like you would on yourself? I feel cruel shooting something up her nose.
