Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Introducing Bottle @ 3months/ Bottle preference over breast

My LO has a medical condition that requires we now start to supplement @ 3months old.

Has anyone introduced a bottle this late on?  I'm debating between bottles and SNS (supplemental nursing system) Any tips or thoughts?

And did anyone who supplemented with a bottle, have a baby stop breastfeeding?  I've never actually known anyone that had a baby who choose bottle over breast.  But it is my one concern, as I love BF and bonding with my babe.

Thanks for any insight.

  • DS had a bottle for the first time at 2 months old. He went right back to the breast no problem.

  • We had no problem introducing both boys to bottles, but my older son once he did have bottles he did not want to nurse anymore. He preferred the faster flow of the bottle and holding it himself. We even tried slower nipples and it just wasn't worth the battle. It really doesn't happen often, so I'm sure you won't have any problem going back to nursing.
