Amoxicillin

Hi ladies, We managed to make it 11.5 months without a sick visit but now little guy has a double ear infection and is on Amoxicillin. Does it make your LOs bounce off the walls? Yesterday he went right to sleep, but was obviously really miserable. Today he's improved a lot, but it just took me about 2 hours to get him to sleep and he was being a lot goofier than usual. I don't recall seeing that as a side effect, but could it just be all the sugar?

    Owen is currently taking this med for an ear infection too. I see no change in his behavior because of it.

    The Amoxicillin is flavored and the literature says "Amoxicillin suspension may contain sugar" and then goes on to advise caution for diabetics, etc.

    Maybe it was just from his sleep schedule being messed up from being up all night yesterday, sleeping late, and only taking one nap. It's been a rough couple nights here...

    Did you google it? Apparently parents have reported that amoxicillin did cause hyperactivity in their child. I

    Was your stuff pink or white? If it's pink it might be a reaction to the concentrated red dye. You could also check your dosage, after googling it looks like the reaction is more common in older kids though

    We have used amoxicillin, but it didn't have that kind of effect on him.

    Thanks, ladies. He's been pretty much back to normal, so I guess it was just the funky sleep/ overtiredness.
