My baby girl is a little over 8 mos and still not sitting up. She'll be seen by her pediatrician on Monday for evaluation. I'm a nervous wreck of a FTM, so if you can spare a few T&P's, positive vibes, or whatever ya got, I'd be grateful.
UPDATE: Just got back from her appt. Her Dr. said that she has low muscle tone but she is also tall for her age (8 mos and 28in long) and that her height could be contributing to the problem. Dr. said give it 2 more weeks before early intervention. After discussing with H, I think we are going to get EI involved now, rather than wait. It can only help the situation. Thank you all for your concern and T&P's. It's really amazing to have a community of moms like S13 who genuinely care. You ladies rock.
I'm sorry your having to go through all this worrying! Hopefully all goes well and she just is doing things in her own time. Sending positive thoughts your way!!
Try not to worry. DD1 always did things on her own time. Late crawler (10.5 mo) late walker (16 mo) and late talker (just starting short phrases at 26-27 mo). If there is an issue, you will get it worked out. Good luck !
Sending prayers and thoughts and positive vibes and everything else. She'll be ok. That's the beauty of being followed closely and being evaluated - if she needs anything it's so early that she'll be just fine. Let us know how the appt goes.
Thanks ladies. @twolittlewheels other than not sitting unsupported, she's developing normally. She was a little slow with rolling (both ways) but nothing else. I haven't contacted EI yet. I'm hoping that her pedi can point us in the right direction on Monday.
I'm hopeful that maybe she's just a little behind like @kennazebrowsky said. I'm just finding it hard not to worry that there might be an underlying issue, or that there's something I could've done to help her hit her milestone.
Sending good vibes your way. It's great that you are having her checked out. I am sure it's nothing, but being proactive is great! At over a year my coworker's daughter didn't crawl. They had a physical therapist come to the house and after a few visits she's crawling all over the place. Good luck!!
Thoughts and prayers your way! I'm sure your LO is fine just doing things at her own pace but good for you for checking it out. Our LO is 8.5 months and has only just started sitting unassisted in the last week. He prefers to crawl and climb EVERYWHERE. These babies have a pattern all their own!
@twolittlewheels thank you! I didn't even think to ask for the causes or reasons for low muscle tone. I was so nervous that I think I forgot all the important questions. I did, however put the call through to EI once I got home, so I'm hoping they get back to me soon. Fingers crossed!
@Jweber1110 glad the appointment went well. Quick question - when you say doesn't sit up, do you mean she doesn't stay sitting unsupported when you put her down sitting? Or that she doesn't sit up on her own from the lying down position? My little girl does the former but not the latter and she's over 9 months. We're contacting EI but was wondering what was the qualifier for your ped to talk to you about it.
@AlejandraN2 when I place her in a seated position she can do the tripod but will eventually fall over. As I see it, she is far from being able to push up to seated from a lying position. I guess the qualifier would be the low muscle tone, however H and I were the ones to discuss EI with the doc.
