Very anxious and excited for my next appt this Wednesday the 11th. I'll be 12.5 weeks and we are doing an ultrasound and bloodwork (I'm pretty sure it's the genetics test or something like that, she said it's a routine thing to check for downs, etc). Anyway.... Me and hubby are wanting to find out the sex of the baby soooo badly! Do you think we will be able to see anything or even find out? I've seen a few post from u ladies saying u have found out the gender already!! So jealous! Hehe.

The ladies who have found out have done so through panorama, or the other similar blood tests. 12 weeks is just too early to be able to tell, as the genitals have not finished forming.

Lots of people "found out" at their 12w appointments on my last birth month board, and about half of them were told that it was the opposite a month or two later.

Have fun watching your jumping bean though!

Unless you get the blood work then you have to wait until the 20 week anatomy scan.

OP I genuinely suggest you read through the other threads regarding finding out the sex so early. You aren't going to find out during an U/S, you just aren't. Even if the tech guesses there's only a 50% chance they're right.

I just had my 12 week and there was no mention of the sex. With the losses on this board, I was thrilled to have a bouncing baby. Most are finding out earlier due to having bloodowork. I am going to find out the sex in 1-2 weeks when my panorama bloodwork comes back.

As for finding out baby's gender will take some additional time. (Note - Be careful of the difference between sex & gender in the future).

This thread is ridiculous, and is about 10 minutes of my life ill never get back. Don't hate on the poor girl because she is naive about the pregnancy process. Just move on the to next post.

You call it being 'snarky,' most of us call it just being plain rude. Not necessary, at all. Don't hide behind your computers to be mean and crude to others. We are all in a sensitive time in our lives and we all deal with certain situations differently. We are suppose to bond together, and bring everyone up, and support everyone. Not 'call over the gender/sex police' when someone makes a uneducated post.

As a grown adult, I do have a question: why not simply ignore the post all together rather than berating the OP? Seems simple. I'm 99.9% lurker, but I'll admit that one of the main reasons I log on to TB and lurk is not to gain information for my pregnancy, but to laugh to myself about the absurdity of some of you....the immaturity and unnessecary, childish behavior: it's entertaining. And seeing how some of you treat others, the ugliness of it, makes me feel even better about myself than I already do. You belittle others, use words to push people to the point of attacking you in return, and then turn on them for doing so...then u band together in some sort of virtual team who's core value and purpose is to "fight" with anyone who isn't up to joining in with you, then afterward you talk yourselves and your imaginary little team up like some ridiculous testosterone fueled men coming down off the high of a bar fight, take it 30 steps too far, and then repeat it all again as soon as the next minuscule opportunity arises. From the outside looking in, the cycle is pretty evident; A person with less than a high school eduction could see it. All in all though, I guess I owe you a big 'thank you' for breaking up the monotony of my work day while I laugh and shake my head at you (not with you). It's hasn't been the first time, and certainly won't be the last.

It depends in the ultrasound machine and the tech. We knew at 12 weeks. Ultrasound was high quality and my "tech" was an MFM doctor who had been in practice for 30 years! So yes it is possible to find out
