Some of you may remember a few months back when I asked for input about visiting my favorite uncle, who had been recently diagnosed with cancer. He lost his battle against cancer late last night. I made the trip in April knowing it was my goodbye visit but I was also in the middle of trying to work out another visit for next week when I found out he had passed away.
I'm pretty much a mess right now, just trying to cope with all the emotions. Hopefully I will be able to make a trip work out, with or without the kids, so I have some time with my family. I'm really hoping to be there for my mom as she has now lost her dad and younger brother less than 2 months apart. We'd all appreciate any thoughts, prayers, etc as arrangements are made and we grieve.

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts! DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome. 131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
Thanks so much everyone! DH and I arranged for an impromptu movie night to help me get my mind off things for just a little. It helped and I'm thinking much more clearly now...the pain is there, but at least I can function better than I was earlier this morning and I can try to figure out next steps.
You guys are the best.
