Has anyone ever been told they they were having a boy/girl and the ultrasound tech was wrong? I was told I was having twin girls, but the U/S tech didn't seem too confident that baby B was a girl because she was moving around so much.
I wasn't, but I did get a "maybe" answer that was wrong. It was super early though, 12 weeks. I didn't even know they could see anything at that point. We weren't even sure we wanted to know the sexes, and then the Doc just blurted out, "you know that's a boy we're looking at right?" So then of course I wanted to know what the other one was, he guessed girl- but he guessed wrong! We found out a couple weeks later.
I have heard of it happening and being a surprise at birth (only twice). Both times it was really a boy (singleton) and they were told it was a girl. Since you're having twins there will likely be so many more ultrasounds that you'll get for-sure answer way before they are born.

So far we haven't had a definitive answer. I am fairly sure the techs can tell what B's sex organs look like, but A's position (transverse and pretty low down) makes it hard to pin for all of them. Based on that the techs aren't super willing to hazard a guess.
I figure we will know when we know it may change again as they get bigger and everything is more defined.

We lost our beautiful Twin baby girls on June 18, 2014. Tavin Sara and Casey Elizabeth were born at 21 weeks gestation and were absolutely beautiful, precious, amazing babies. We miss our daughters every day and love them with all our hearts.
My tech got ours correct at 16 weeks but she made sure to say she couldn't be 100% positive until 20 weeks because it was still early. I still have her check if baby girl is still a girl, baby boy was obvious.
Mine were right, twins and singleton. With DD we found out at 20wks, twins at 15-16wks. The twins was a "pretty sure but don't buy blue yet" guess based on one of them showing off at 15wks. Boys were confirmed 2 weeks later.

There was no doubt with our singleton. It was the first thing anyone saw on our 17 week ultrasound. Couldn't get a decent look at is face at all, but he was all about flashing the goods about. He's still kind of like that. Ha!
No doubt with the twins at 20 weeks last time. They were spread eagle haha. With this singleton we got a guess at 13 weeks of boy and it was confirmed at 19+2. Seemed pretty obvious. I still have the fear that at the birth we will get the surprise of its a girl lol. Pretty sure it's unlikely though
I purposely waited until the A/S to find out just for this reason. They said two boys (for baby B I asked, "are you sure?" And the tech did a 3D of it.. Yup!) and I got two boys.
at 16w4d, they told us two boys, at 18w4d, they told us boy/girl. at 20w4d (anatomy scan) they confirmed a boy and a girl. At the 16 week scan, the tech had scanned the same baby twice! oops!

Well, we found out at 15 weeks( a little early) that it was two girls, but had an ultrasound yesterday at 17 weeks 1day they told us boy/girl! We have another ultrasound on the 26th so I'm hoping nothing changes;)
We didn't find out, but I have a friend who's an OB who did lots of ultrasounds for me on the sly. He told his wife that I was having girls. Glad I didn't rely on him to tell me beforehand!
(And in looking at my medical records, one of my ultrasounds had baby C as a girl.)
