Ugh they have been sooooo bad for me!!!! I've been drinking plenty of water and I eat a banana every day to try and help but it seems as though I'm not doing enough
Yup- in the middle of the night, scares the crap out of me, & it's always in my calf. I've been eating two bananas and atleast 80 ounces of water..... Apparently I need more
Well drinking more is a first step. But as a diabetic I send a little awareness, I also have this when my blood sugar levels are to high. Try monitoring what you are eating right before it happens. Hope this helps.
Yup. Always at night, but mostly in my feet not my legs. I thought I was drinking plenty of water. May need to increase it just to be sure, but I've always had bad circulation in my legs.
I totally came on this morning to post exactly this!!! I had my first one last night at 4 am. My whole calf seized and dear god did it hurt. I guess I will start drinking more water and eating more bananas. Does massage/stretching before going to bed help?
They sucks. I had the. Three times already, and the second time it was in both calves at the same time! I heard stretching your legs before bed might help. Keep forgetting to do that though.
I've been having them for almost 4 weeks now. I've noticed if I slack off on my calcium intake at all, I get them, but if I get three good servings of dairy a day (usually 2 glasses of milk and a yogurt), I don't get them, and if I do they aren't as bad. Try upping your calcium intake and see what happens. The baby is building bones now and he/she's sucking that calcium right out of you.
Sodium (Na+) and Potassium (K+) are the popularly known ions necessary for transmitting an action potential through a nerve. However, Calcium (Ca+) is also necessary and if you aren't getting enough of one of these ions, you can have nerve spasms. That's probably what's happening to us.

I hate bananas so I've taken a potassium supplement for years. I mentioned the cramps to my OB on Wednesday and she said to make sure to get enough calcium and water. She also mentioned magnesium... And mentioned it would make my stool soft as a bonus.
One of my cravings is milk and cheese sticks. I've been eating and drinking like it's going out of style. Thanks for the solutions glad to hear it's not early for me ha ha
OMG YES!!!!!!!!! It hurts so bad!!! I honestly wake up like 3 times a night with cramps in both of my legs. And I drink lots of water during the day but I try not to drink too much before bed because then I have to pee during the night. So it's either drink more water before bed and have to get up and pee, or not drink water and get woken up anyway with these leg cramps. Very interesting though @love4science, thanks for the information. I will try to up my calcium intake. I just started taking Materna, recommended by my OB, which has lots of calcium. One of the joys of pregnancy. Anyone else find that sleep is getting harder to come by?? First tri I slept so well, now I'm waking up a lot and having crazy, wild dreams all night and I'm getting more uncomfortable.

No leg cramps yet but sleeping has been awful. I've been waking up in the middle of the night with back spasms. Combine the upper back pain with weird dreams and having to pee and sleep has become frustrating. Then I start to get anxiety because I don't get enough sleep. It's a vicious, sucky cycle! And then the people i explain this to tell me to suck it up because, "it gets worse." Way to kick me when I'm down. Grrrrrrrr
@silverwings72 the anxiety about not sleeping sucks! I have that too. I will lie there for like 30 mins after waking up and get mad at myself for thinking about everything and not trying to sleep...which makes my sleep really shitty. Hopefully it doesn't get too much worse....
