Would you consider this housekeeper?

Sorry for all the questions today.  I found a housekeeper on care.com that says she wants to bring her 9 month old daughter with her.  She posted this in her ad, I haven't directly contacted her yet.  First, I don't know how she would quickly get anything done with a 9 month old and I don't want her to just leave the baby in a pack n play by herself to fuss or whatever.  I honestly don't know what she does with her baby while she cleans.  Second, we have two large dogs.  They are totally fine around kids but then I started thinking what if something happened?

The only thing that interest me about her is that she says she uses natural cleaners.

Would you hire a housekeeper that wanted to bring their kid, especially if you have dogs?

Re: Would you consider this housekeeper?

  • I don't see how that could possibly work?
    My TTC History:
    2009: missed miscarriage #1 at 9 weeks (trisomy 16)
    2010: Infertility
2011: Diagnosis and treatment (low sperm count, anastrozole for DH, clomid for me + IUI)
    2012: Baby #1
    2014: Baby #2
October 2015: missed miscarriage #2 at 11 weeks (trisomy 22)
    March 2016 BFP#5, due November 2016.

  • No I would not consider her.

  • I wouldn't. I have a dog too, who's great with our 7mo old, but I wouldn't be okay with strangers (we pen her when our cleaners come). Plus, if I can't clean my house with a 7mo old, could my cleaners do am effective job with their child present? I would pass.
Can't figure out the signature thing, so here's the short, short version.....first daughter born on November 10, 2013. She was conceived through the magic of IVF after 2+ years of TTC.
  • The main reason I need a cleaner is that I can't get anything done with my 9 month old around, so no.

  • This is the defense attorney in me - but no matter what I'd secure your dogs when the cleaner visits.  eliminate the possibility of law suits (in my career I've seen a few dog bites, and also one suit over tripping over a dog (yes, really) ).

I'd interview her and ask for the plan with the baby while cleaning.
That's part of the problem.  Whoever comes to clean the house needs to be able to let the dogs in and out while they're there.

Thanks for your input ladies!  I'll be going with someone else.

Do keep in mind that if your preference is for your cleaner to use natural cleaners, most cleaners can be accommodating or plan to use cleaners you provide. I wouldn't let this be a point that cinches the deal.

To expand on this - our cleaning lady actually buys supplies for each house.  we pay for them and she just stores them in a bucket in our storage closet.  Natural cleaners aside - I think the system works just fine.  But my point being - I would think any cleaning person would be willing to do this.  Just tell them to stock up on natural versions of what they normally use and then just keep it at your house.
  • No. Would not consider using her.

    No.

ETA: We provide the cleaning products for our cleaner. She brings her own vacuum cleaner (though we have one) and buckets and sponges but uses our cleaners. She suggested/requested that we buy certain ones that we didn't have also, and we bought them...well really one. She thinks blue windex works better than other windexes or likes it better or something. So we bought it. The rest we have and just restock.

  • If she's paid a flat fee and you're not home while she cleans, I would totally give her a try.

Depending on the baby and the mom this could totally work, and I would like to be a person who is helping build a world that gives women with small children (particularly pink/blue collar women with small children) the chance to do good work and be compensated for it.
