Re: ~Health and Fitness Check-in~

  • 1) How far along are you? I am not exactly sure yet. Every app says something different. I think I am 5W today.

    2)  What type of exercise have you been doing since getting your BFP? Are you finding any challenges yet?-    I've been trying to get 10,000 steps each day which I usually need a good hour long walk to meet that goal. I've been getting winded easily but its also somewhat hot out. I've been trying to walk in the late evenings though.

GTKY: Did you play any sports in HS? If so, which ones?- Yep, I played field hockey all 4 years and did basketball, softball, and track for a year each.

    1) How far along are you? 4 weeks and 4 days

    2)  What type of exercise have you been doing since getting your BFP? Are you finding any challenges yet? I am doing physical therapy for a knee, like squats. and the elliptical. No challenges yet. I want to strengthen my knee because who knows how much weight I am going to put on.

GTKY: Did you play any sports in HS? If so, which ones? no sports.

Does eating way to much count as exercise?? ;)

    1) I am 5 weeks
    2) I am going to try and walk most nights. I also would like to start toning my arms some with light weights, we will see.

I did tae kwon do in middle school and high school and got my black belt. I lived it my Karate gym....... then I went to college and got fat, lol. It has been a struggle since unfortunately.

I worked super hard last summer and lost 30 lb (goal was 50).... then we had a super stressful winter and I gained it all back:( I wish I had kept it off before this pregnancy, but oh well. I will definitely have motivation once I can get serious after this baby is born.

  • Love this!! Thanks for posting :)

    1) How far along are you? 5 weeks, 3 days

    2)  What type of exercise have you been doing since getting your BFP? Are you finding any challenges yet? I've been biking, swimming laps, and doing yoga. Pretty much my normal routines except that I've eliminated running-- but that's because of chronic shin splints more than the BFP. I'm getting winded more easily, and sweating more, but that could also be because I'm a bit out of shape right now (I had let my routines slide during early spring). I need to get back into a weight-training routine, too.

GTKY: Did you play any sports in HS? If so, which ones? None at all. I actually got a waiver to get out of gym class to take extra AP classes (nerd!). I loved swimming, but my school didn't have a team.

I've been reading Fit and Healthy Pregnancy, which has been really motivating! She has very realistic advice for recreational athletes and people interested in getting in shape. Any cross-fit-ers out there might like The Pregnant Athlete, but it has proven a little too intense for me.

    2)  What type of exercise have you been doing since getting your BFP? Are you finding any challenges yet? I've been going on two 45 minutes walks a day, arm work with light weights, squats, and some ab work. I think I'm going to transition to planks only this week.

GTKY: Did you play any sports in HS? If so, which ones? Tournament cheerleading and track and field

  • 1. I'm 5 weeks

    2. I've been running and doing my normal classes at 24hr. In one of my classes called body combat I fatigue so much quicker than normal. And my boobs... got to have a good bra.

I didn't really do any sports in highschool but in college my fitness buff roommate got me really into staying fit. My wt has always been an issue and fighting bad genetics is hard.
  • 1) How far along are you?

    4w6d

    2) What type of exercise have you been doing since getting your BFP? Are you finding any challenges yet?

Mainly running and walking. I try to run 3x a week (have been), and I walk every day. We have a dog who I walk, and I take Adele to the park. I probably average 2-3 miles of walking a day. I'm around 2.25 miles of running (building back up from a bad sprain a couple months ago). I'm probably going to add in prenatal yoga on the days I don't run. I've been swimming 2x/week, too, but it was at a middle school pool, and it closes this week. I'll pick that back up in the fall.

GTKY: Did you play any sports in HS? If so, which ones?

I played softball, basketball, and was on the swim team. (Not all at the same time though.)

    2)  What type of exercise have you been doing since getting your BFP? Are you finding any challenges yet? I've continued to run a few times a week, but limiting it to 3-4 miles at a time. I did my Insanity video this am, but think I am going to cut back on that. I do find that I'm a little more winded, but I'd be surprised that it is really anything pregnancy related this early on. GTKY: Did you play any sports in HS? If so, which ones? Ran cross-country

Great idea! Thank you so much!1) How far along are you? 5 weeks
    2)  What type of exercise have you been doing since getting your BFP? Are you finding any challenges yet? UGH-- not been doing great, but am planning on stopping by my gym to get my calendar so I can plan my workouts. M and I did go for a nice walk last night (so I feel a tiny bit better about my pizza dinner).  GTKY: Did you play any sports in HS? If so, which ones? I ran track.

    2. I usually go on a 40-60 min. stroller walk with DD daily, and do dumbbells & squats throughout the day.
Challenges: it felt really strange running the other day - some cramping and pretty uncomfortable - and my knees were bothering me during squats this morning :(
GTKY: I ran cross country & indoor/outdoor track
  • 1) I'm 4w6
    2) I've been doing the Jillian Michaels Body Revolution dvd's for about 2 years. I get winded a little easier now. I did another one of her work out videos during my first pregnancy and loved them. I also try to get in a short walk or jog if I feel up to it.
    3) High school sports: swimming, golf, dance team.
  • 1) How far along are you?  5 weeks 0 days

    2)  What type of exercise have you been doing since getting your BFP? Are you finding any challenges yet?  I've been trying to walk the dogs for 30-40 minutes, once or twice a day.  I was a distance runner (love half marathons) right up until I got my BFP.  Was planning on continuing running for the first two trimesters, but my body had other ideas.  The fatigue hit hard the day after BFP, and now a 30 minute walk takes me longer to recover than a two hour run did three weeks ago.  Sigh.  Very frustrating that my fitness dropped so quickly.  Trying to add in Wii yoga to my walks, hopefully the fatigue won't last beyond the first couple months, and I'll be able to do some light running again before I get too big.  I miss it so much already, it makes me sad.

GTKY: Did you play any sports in HS? If so, which ones?  Softball and volleyball, but only until I was old enough to drive.  Wasn't sporty back then.

    2)  What type of exercise have you been doing since getting your BFP? Are you finding any challenges yet?  I've continued to go to the gym.  I do light weights and the elliptical.  That and chasing a toddler is about all I have the energy for :)  At this point, I'm pretty much able to maintain the same workout routine.

GTKY: Did you play any sports in HS? If so, which ones?  I played soccer, but AYSO, not at school.

  • 1) 5 W and 4 D

    2) I have been walking several miles. I am a jogger, used to jogging 2 miles every other day. Nothing serious but I love it and I'm consistent. Since I got BFP I have been a little afraid to run. Also fatigued and not up to it. I know the fear is silly. But decided to switch my routine to long 2 and 4 hour walks since I have the time. Last night I did 6 miles of hills at a comfortable pace. Actually was a harder work out than my jogs in some ways. But heart rate wasn't as intense. :)

    3) No sports in HS

I was super scared to run as well! Figured I "un-attach it". Listen to your body and heart. Best of luck!

    2)  What type of exercise have you been doing since getting your BFP? Are you finding any challenges yet? I've been doing my typical gym routine: weights class 2x a week, cardio class 3x a week, occasional kickboxing class, plus bringing toddler to the park, pool, or little gym. I have found I'm more tired than normal, and sometimes can't make it through the step class after weights class like I used to.

GTKY: Did you play any sports in HS? If so, which ones? I did colorguard and winter guard in HS. (We do the flags, rifles and sabers with the marching band in the fall and perform to taped music in the winter/spring). Didn't do organized sports in college, mostly pick-up volleyball when the weather was nice and hit the elliptical and did PT for my knees otherwise. Played in a women's league volleyball with work friends until I got pregnant with my son and would have to miss most of the following season.

I've always been pretty active, and I hope I can keep it up through this pregnancy, and then while handling two little ones!

  • I am 4 weeks and 1 day along.

I am jogging 3 miles a couple times a week and the gym. I went for a jog today and I think I pushed it a little to hard. I walked a lot to keep my heart rate down but I think the 100 degree weather put me over the top. I might stick to the treadmill on hot days... I'm also planning on going back to my Pilates classes.

I was in cheer and dance in high school.
  • 1) How far along are you? I am 3-4 weeks.  4 according to LMP, 3 according to O date.

    2)  What type of exercise have you been doing since getting your BFP? Are you finding any challenges yet? Running 3-5 miles five times a week, walking 1-3 miles each day,  arm weight circuit- no problems yet!  I've been in this routine for about 3 months now, so I'm hoping to keep it up as long as possible throughout this pregnancy. :)

With my daughter, I was SO scared to run and I ended up having issues that led to me having to give it up in the 1st tri.  I agree, stay active (walking hills is great!) and listen to your body. :)

    1) How far along are you?
5 weeks and something (I am an early ovulator, which means I would actually have been considered "pregnant" before my last period, which is ridiculous, but whatever)

    2)  What type of exercise have you been doing since getting your BFP? Are you finding any challenges yet?

AB work!  I'd love to stay small again with this baby for as long as possible. Also some cardio.

GTKY: Did you play any sports in HS? If so, which ones?

cross-country, I'm not coordinated enough for other sports.

  • I'm a bit of a fitness nut. At my preconception appointment I talked with my OB GYN a lot about exercise and she was super enthusiastic about me staying active. She only cautioned me to avoid sports that had any bodily impact (ie martial arts) or had a risk of falling. Even so, I agree that it was really scary when I found out I was pregnant- I didn't want to jostle the little guy/gal. I have been focusing on walking every day and light weight training a couple times a week.

    1) How far along are you?
          4 wks, 6 days

    2)  What type of exercise have you been doing since getting your BFP? Are you finding any challenges yet?

I've been biking, walking (interval training to get HR up), and doing weight training. For weight training it's nothing intense, high reps with low weight using elastic resistance bands. Also, by my work there is a walking path with body-weight resistence machines that I do twice a week. It's actually kind of fun, there is a chest press and a pull down machine where you actually lift yourself up into the air as you push against the handles.

Challenges: Well, I definitely can't work out in the mornings when my nausea is highest. It just makes the morning sickness worse. Also, my breasts have been so sore at times that I've worn two sports bras AND a built-in bra workout shirt. Even with that they still hurt any time I went over a bump on my bike.

GTKY: Did you play any sports in HS? If so, which ones?

I was a national-level swimmer in high school. I have a lot of joint injuries and lasting aches from being as active as I was, so depending on what hurts I have to modify my activity. I haven't been able to swim for the past 3 months or so because of shoulder pain. However, I have been treading water for like 20 minute stretches about once a week.

  • 1. I am 5w1d

    2. I went to the gym on Tuesday and felt terrible - I used to go every day and do weights and run a few miles, but Tuesday I could barely eek out 1.5 miles.  I also caught a virus my son had so I am hopeful it had more to do with that than pregnancy.  I plan to get back into working out this weekend/next week.  I miss it.

    3. Played softball all throughout school.  Was supposed to play in a town league this year...but that's out!

  • 5 weeks today

I'm a spin instructor and currently getting my barre certification. I love barre and it's great for continuing while pregnant. I have been trying to get back into running but I've really been exhausted since my BFP. I find myself out of breath doing the simple things. Unfortunately I might have to give up my spin class in the coming weeks if I'm still tired and the nausea kicks in.

I played lacrosse in college. Ran half marathons and tough mudders to keep fit and have fun
  • 1) How far along are you? 4 weeks!

    2)  What type of exercise have you been doing since getting your BFP? Are you finding any challenges yet? Well, I just got my BFP on Wednesday so I have been treating myself to pizza and subway. I plan on going for a walk 3-4 times a week. No issues yet. I'm still a little crampy but that should affect me walking.

GTKY: Did you play any sports in HS? If so, which ones? I was a cheerleader, if you consider that a sport? We were very competitive. Practiced 5 days a week for 2 hours, games, competitions. We even went to Nationals. *sigh* the good ol' days.
