Teddy Bear (or Plush) in Bed?

DS started to love on his stuffed animals recently, and I found a crib-safe teddy bear that I would like him to sleep with. Do any of you allow your LO to sleep with a plush? Some say that giving toddlers plush toys could create an environment of play instead of sleep in the crib. What are your opinions?

  • We used it have nothing in the crib but we now have about five different stuffed animals. Her sleep has not changed at all. She just pushes them away from her.

DD had her lovey, a blanket, and a couple of stuffed animals. She's dlept this way for awhile now.

  • DS' crib toys didn't "create an atmosphere of play." When he is in his crib and doesn't want to sleep he is crying and carrying on, NOT playing. He likes to cuddle some while he sleeps and they are great for keeping him entertained when he wakes up.

  • DD has a bunny and monkey that she sleeps with. She doesn't play with them before she goes to sleep. She will only in the morning when she wakes up. Or she just throws them across the room.

  • I worry about that too.  More so during nap vs bed time.
DS has blankies but not stuffed animals.

  • DD doesn't sleep with anything but she also hasn't really wanted to and she is the type that would play not sleep if she had things in there with her.

  • Sammy has five tiny loveys, a blanket, a stuffed dog, and a monkey that plays music. And a music box. We added a bunch of stuff when the doctor told us to make the crib a happy place due to night terrors. Sometimes she plays with the stuff but I've come to realize that those times that she is awake Abs playing would have been awake and crying before so ill take it. :-)

Berkley has used a rabbit lovey since we took her out of swaddles. She sleeps like a dream 95% of the time. Thank God too, because she doesn't sit still when she's awake. :)

She carries that sweet thing everywhere if she can get a hold of it. :) Any other stuffed animal freaks her out though, which is funny.

  • DS has 4 teddy bears in his crib. He likes to lay his head on one and cuddle another. He switches up which ones he uses every night - hence the 4 teddy bears.

DS has two small bunnies (one is a must) and a teddy bear in addition to a blanket. He sometimes cuddles with them, sometimes ignores them.

  • Haha @katrine_05‌ Taylor only sleeps with 2 blankets, but that's exactly what he does when he decides to not go to bed. I'm afraid it's going to lead to him climbing out!!

  • DD has a few "friends" that live in her bed. She occasionally gets out of bed and plays with some of her bedtime friends, but I see it as a positive because she always ends up back in her bed on her own and is able to put herself to sleep.

Also, all those friends allow Mommy a little extra time in the morning and during/after "nap" time because she can keep herself entertained.

  • Thor has two stuffies in bed with him, a stuffed Max the dog (from little mermaid) and a little bunny, he loves them both and snuggles them all night, then plays with them in the morning til he wants to come out and play/get his sippy/have breakfast. It has worked out well for us, he has had them since his first birthday.
