Silly Question

Hi ladies,
So I have a silly question.  I'm about two weeks away from having my anatomy scan and finding out the gender and I thought I would take some of those silly gender prediction tests.  I have a gut feeling it's a girl and all of those tests also said girl.  Did anyone ever have a gut feeling or take one of the silly tests and it turn out right?  People say you will have mother's instinct, but is that strong enough to indicate the gender??

Thanks! :)

Re: Silly Question

  • Yup! And I was right :) however, you still only have a 50/50 chance of being right.

  • I have never had a strong mother's instinct because my I get too clouded by "my preference". I didn't really have a true preference with 1st pregnancy, but DH family hasn't had a girl born in 70+ years, so everyone is pulling for a girl. I thought 1st pregnancy was a girl, but it was a boy. This time around I am thinking girl again, but also in the back of my head everytime I see an u/s, I think boy. So who knows. My instincts are broken.

  • I had a gut instinct that DS was a girl. :)

DH and I were totally convinced that DS was a girl.  So I don't think gut instinct is more than 50% right.

I think the OWT were mixed with DS - some said boy, some said girl.  They're all 50% accurate.

I felt like DD was a girl and I was right. However I convinced myself she was going to be a boy before the a/s because we couldn't agree in ANY boy names. That being said I don't necessarily believe you have a true "instinct" on gender. Like pp said you have a 50/50 shot at being right.

Edit: got finger happy and hit post too soon

  • I was convinced it was a girl.  All the gender prediction tests said girl.  Elective u/s at 17w- definitely a boy.

  • I have no opinion but everybody around me says girl. I really don't want to give them the satisfaction of being "right" about a wild guess.

I have no intuition about what I am having because I feel like everyone else is messing up my own judgment. Even the cashier this morning was like, I know it's a girl.
Everyone but my husband is saying girl.... We find out on June 20th (aka forever from now lol)
I just made up on of these....

Sorry! Don't know how to make it smaller! yikes!
  • The only things I have done were calculate my lunar age and use a (better) Chinese Gender predictor.  (The one on the Bump just uses your regular age and that supposedly is a big no.)

My Chinese doctor also gave her opinion. Last time I was at her office she was taking my pulse and asked if I wanted to know what I was having.  I said sure...   Based on my pulse she said it was a boy.  (Matches with the lunar gender predictor.)  She said she was 90% sure, but said she could be 99% sure in a month or so.  (No worries, I will NOT be buying blue based on a pulse.)

.........And sorrynotsorry I dared to say "gender" instead of "sex" not just once but TWICE in this post.   But that is what they call that damn chart.  Chinese Sex Chart sounds downright kinky.

  • Most of those gender predictor tests I took said girl and honestly, I hoped for a girl. But my gut was telling me it was a boy. And sure enough, gender u/s at 15w1d revealed it's a boy. I have my regular a/s with my dr on July 2nd but I REALLY don't see it changing.

  • I was way off on our twin girls. I was convinced they were both boys because of all the OWT and how good I felt. This pregnancy has been completely different, but I had that "feeling" it was also a girl. It is.

I'm right there with you... even my DH and I said boy from the get go, and everyone around me is saying boy too... the defiance in me has switched me over to girl... we will see.
  • I am curious about the heart rate predictor - at what week is it supposed to be over 140 to a girl?
