a little freaked out (UPDATED #2)

I started reading my newly purchased pregnancy book tonight, and it has me going a little crazy. I have felt cramps on the my left side, and sometimes the pain is sharp, sometimes dull. The book has me worried that I may be feeling signs of an ectopic pregnancy. So, any thoughts or knowledge out there? It is too late to call my doctors office, and i will probably call tomorrow, but was wondering if anyone had any wisdom tonight...?

ETA Friday, for update:
Went in for an u/s this morning at 10. Ultrasound tech really didn't saying anything during the whole process and apparently didn't see anything suuper exciting. The doctor's office (not my OB, she's out of town) called me at 1:45 and this doctor ordered me to go in for bloodwork to check my betas. Luckily, I'm 5 minutes away from the med center and immediately went up to get it done. I just got home from that but I'm even more confused/worried now! This doctor (kind of hard to understand her accent) made it seem like this could go either way. She said she wanted to see the betas, and I guess depending on that number they will know if they should be able to see something in my uterus.?? I really don't know what's going on, but I won't get any more "answers" until Sunday.

I've been occasionally having pains on one side too. I honestly think it's trapped gas. At least that's what I'm telling myself. Good luck!

I'm also having the same pains...have been for a week and its mostly on my right side. I also tend to think its gas pains. It's usually worse in the afternoon.

No sure how early they start but it could be round ligament pain.

I'm having the same pains too. From experience I know they are round ligament pains. I had them by 6 weeks last time (called the doc - I was so nervous!). Anyway I had the same pains on the left side and didn't have an ectopic pregnancy. I'm sure you're fine!

if its on the side, but really low, it could be round ligament pain. I experienced this very early on as opposed to later when most women get it. It would be a sharp stabbing sensation particularly when I went from sitting to standing. It would have me doubled over it hurt so bad.

I have been having a lot of pains like that as well, but I think they are just gas pains because it always seems to pass. If it would make you feel better, I would definitely go ahead and call your doctor just to ease your mind!

You deserve an award. I don't remember any of my symptoms, or when I got them with my first Pregnancy.

Thank you ladies! The pain is a bit higher, like right to the side of my pelvic bone. I'm going to go get myself ready for the day and probably call the dr. office after that. I told DH last night, and he is texting me from work for updates. I really hope it's nothing and that I'm just being paranoid. I've also felt more dull pain in my lower back on the same side, and my leg.

I appreciate all of your reassurances!

It is actually likely a cyst from the side you ovulated from.... very normal. Severe pain is what you would eperience with an ectopic. The pain could also be in your arm or shoulder.

@ksgsmu - thank you! I called the nurse just a few minutes ago because I know if I don't ask someone I will become overly paranoid!

It's definitely not knock-me-over type of pain, thank goodness.

I'm waiting to hear back from the doctor on call... pregnancy is a lot of waiting, jeesh!

I've been having similar pains. Honestly like others said, I think it's gas pains. I'm so bloated and every meal I eat seems to upset my stomach. I don't remember how I was my last preganancy.

The nurse called back and the doctor on call wants me to go in for a pelvic u/s to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. Of course, I can't go in until tomorrow.

I had to go in for an u/s yesterday for the same reason. They tend to be precautionary with this sort of thing. Plus, I got to see a really early picture of a circle in my uterus!

Oh, what a hard situation to have to wait and not know what's going on. I hope everything turns out well, and it is only an intestinal issue, not anything to do with the baby.

I hope so! I'm just confused because the doctor today said there was nothing detectable in my uterus, but the lining was thick which is good. Then she said it looked like there may be corpus luteal cyst on my ovary, but that could possibly be an ectopic pregnancy. I know it early, but I'm worried that they saw nothing in my uterus.

Try not to worry just yet. Hopefully you have good news on Sunday. Normally the ultrasound won't show anything unless your hcg is 1000-2000. (So my doctor says) so maybe it's just to early to see something.

That is what I am hoping... the my hcg is still just a little lower. I've also read that if the lining is pretty thick, it will still be hard to see. We shall see - trying to not worry, but it's so hard!

@mishka29‌ .... i actually feel like the cramps I was complaining about have lessened in frequency. I am hoping that is a good sign.

Another update: Doctor called today and said my betas on Friday (which from my calculations would be 19 DPO) were 213. She said that explains why they didn't see anything on the ultrasound. Using betabase, I see this is a low number, but not a definitely disastrous number. I'm going in tomorrow for more blood work, so let's hope that number has jumped!
