The sling makes it super easy to use. I've been putting it in the bathtub when I give her baths. She is really content in it.

For DD we got a bath cushion from Target. Same concept as the sponge but bigger and thicker and can be used more easily in the sink.
DS: 11/8/11 | 9 lb 7 oz, 22 in
DD: 5/22/14 | 9 lb 9 oz, 21.5 in
Max weight is 20lbs. The manufacturers age suggestion was 0-6 months.

I would think till they are too big for the sink! FTM so not sure and probably depends on the baby. It's super easy to use and wash which is a bonus.
