At the grocery store earlier today I had Riley in the stroller in his car seat because he was asleep when we got there and I didn't want to wake him up. So he had both sunshades over him and no one could see him.
Some lady walks up to me and asks "Can I pet your baby?" AS SHES REACHING HER HAND UNDER THS SUNSHADE. I barely even heard what she asked and I noticed her already touching his foot so I said "ACTUALLY HES SLEEPING" in the rudest voice I could muster.. cause fucking AWKWARD LADY!!!
I turned to my sister and told her what just happened and she just about died laughing at that question. WTF is he.. a puppy? no.. get the fuck away from me.
Re: Awkward..
WAT. THE. FUCK.
People are the weirdest.
Yeah. You nailed it. Fucking gross. And also, how about don't stick anything in the mouth of someone else's baby. Dumb rich entitled betch.
And I can't believe the ice cube thing. We went to brunch a few weeks back with friends and someone was holding LO and said something about an ice cube. I put the kabosh (sp? My Yiddish sucks. No I'm not Jewish) on that immediately.
I took it out of her mouth and told her as nicely as I could that you don't put your fingers in babies mouths
TFMC 08.02.13 at 19+ weeks. Everyday I grieve for my little Olive.
I would flip out if a stranger gave DD anything without asking me. To assume it's ok is dangerous! What if the baby has an allergy (obviously not to ice but if it were a cookie or something).
Eta- this reminds the time my friend and I were at the mall with our boys (they were about 15 months old) and some old lady tried to give them her half eaten soft pretzel. There were bites taken out if it and she was insisting that it was ok for them to eat the rest. Ummm no thanks!
