Baby wearing ... Again

Baby wearing is hot.

I wore my moby with DS and we bth were sweating buckets.

I'm looking at a mei tai or ergo instead

The ergo is definitely a favourite. But do you find it how? Or those mei tai users?

BRU has a sale til tomorrow so I'm looking at gettin something! Thanks in advance :)

Re: Baby wearing ... Again

  • I have the ergo but my 5 week old is to small to use it without the newborn insert but that thing looks like he will sweat buckets in it too. I also have a sweaty baby when I wear him in the ktan. Anyone used the newborn insert successfully in warmer weather?

  • How much does the infant insert go up to in pounds @cowpoly959‌?
  • I use my ergo without the insert fine with my 11 day old (8lbs exactly). I just roll up a blanket and put it at the bottom for her to sit on. Then I just make it a little tighter so she can't slip out the sides. I don't know if that's technically OK, but it works for us and I feel confident that she's safe. It gets a little warm of course, but I wore her for an hour or so outside yesterday when it was 86 and humid and I didn't want to die.

  • What about around the house? Is it comfy enough to lounge in?
  • I LOVE my Ergo when baby is bigger, but not so much now.

Just got a Baby K'tan this week and like it SOOOO much better than the Moby. The Moby didn't bother me before, but now it's hot and hurts my back. The k'tan is still a little warm, but not as bad as the Moby. DS loves it.

  • K'tan is a good choice until baby is bigger. I'm a HUGE fan of the Lillebaby though. It can be used from birth, legs in or legs out. And I personally found it a million times comfier than the Ergo. For our Babywearing group we have 2 Lillebaby carriers and they're always checked out of the library. As soon as they come in they go right back out.

  • I love the ergo but with the insert it gets way too hot! Looking forward to using it when he's a bit bigger. For now I use the boba which gets hot but not as bad.

  • I have the boba 3G and it says you can use it with a nb but I haven't tried it yet. I need to flip the buckle around so that I can try it. But my 3 week old is also 11 lbs so....

Congrats to my GP Sister from another mister Bruinsbabe!!

  • We use the ergo with insert and she does get hot in it, I just put her in a onsie and some socks. We have been outside in 80 degree temps and she's been fine. We are in California though, no humidity at all.

I also have the boba wrap which we use around the house and I've worn her twice out to dinner in and I don't think it's too hot for either of it. It's super stretchy and tricky to get used to but I love it now.
  • I did order the mei tai as I hVe a snugly for an older babe. I know they aren't the best but there is a hack with a blanket or scarf to make it less crotch dangly. It was a $7 find.

I don't plan on being a big baby wearer when DS gets older. But if I change my mind I'm going for the ergo.
  • I really like my boba 4g. The newborn part is just a little seat that snaps on, which doesn't make it much hotter. The material makes it a little warm, but we did fine today in 80 degree heat.

My linen ring sling works really well in warm weather. I love my Ergo for the toddler stage, but prefer the ring sling for tr squishy stage. LO is so comfortable there too.

  • I find all of my carriers (Ktan, Mei tai, ergo) to be way to hot, even just around the house. I'm pretty hot blooded though, and I think baby is too because she seems to hate every carrier.

I just bought a Moby.  After several tries, I think I finally got it to where baby is comfortable and safe....And then my MIL comes over and steals the baby from me (ugh). But I'm so paranoid. I've heard about babies not being able to breathe and stuff from these.

  • It happens. Just have to make sure their face is not smushed into your chest, can fit 2 fingers under their chin and you can kiss them.

There might be more. Can't remember.

I actually went with the mei tai and I am returning it for the ergo. I'm so indecisive.
