Unbearable Pressure

I am 34 weeks with my fraternal twins and just the past two days I've had unbearable pressure everytime I stand up. I can barely walk I'm just so sore and swollen. I also have had a headache behind my left eye since Sunday. Not sure how much more I can take of this. I could just sit and cry :( need some encouragement

Re: Unbearable Pressure

  • I know I just get frustrated with my OB. The office is literally 2 mins from my house but they always send me to the hospital which is 30 mins away. Idk y they can't just check me out in the office. It's just so hard when you have a 2.5 year old at home and no family or husband to help :(

  • I second to definitely call your OB. At that far along you don't want to play around with any out of the norm issues. Is there a friend who can come by to watch your other child?

    Good luck.

  • ditto calling and going in even if its a hassle - swollen and headache could be nothing but they are also Pre E signs, not something you want to mess around with
  • The end is really hard. Rest as much as you can. You are beyond full term measurements now, so take care of yourself. You're almost there! Also...I might put a call into your OB. Increased pressure and a headache that bad may warrant a visit. GL.
All of this. I didn't know how I was going to last one more day towards the end, but then one more day would stretch into two more days, and then a week...You want to give those babies as much time to develop as possible, especially from a lung maturity standpoint. I think you should definitely go in to be checked for pre-e to be on the safe side if you can manage it at all. Take your LO with you if need be. Good luck and hang in there.

I definitely feel for you.  I have a 2.5 year old and a 4 year old, so getting sent to the hospital (an hour away) was always a pain (and always seemed to happen late at night).  But I would also recommend calling.  I called and got checked a couple of times toward the end when my symptoms would feel more intense and different, just to be safe.  One of the times I went in was, in fact, around 34 weeks with intense pressure as soon as I stood.  It turned out that the babies had dropped and were really low in my pelvis, and that was, unfortunately, the new norm for the next couple of weeks.  But I am glad I went in and got checked anyway.  A headache would concern me also if it came upon you pretty quickly.

I am not going to lie- the end is really hard.  You think it won't get harder and then it does, but then your body amazingly pushes through it.  You are doing an incredible thing by growing two lives.  Your body is working so hard.  I know it is hard with big kids, but try to rest as much as you can, even if it means convincing your LO to snuggle with you and watch movies or read.  Once you hit the end, it can go quick.  I am having my girls tomorrow and while this last month has been SO hard, I cannot believe that it went so fast.  Hang in there!

  • Thank you everyone. I did get checked. No pre e for me :) they gave me some IV meds for the ongoing headache and fluids. I'm home now and feel better. Also happy that I'm not dilated at all. It's going to be a rough 4 weeks yet :(
