Hello everyone,
My name is Jerica. I am 23 years old, my husband Sean is 25. We have been married for almost 2 years now and have been TTC since April 2013. I really don't know if I'm ready to talk about all that's been going on with a bunch of complete strangers but if I don't get some of this off my chest I feel like I'm going to explode. So here's my story.
After I stopped my BC in April of 2013, I fully expected to get pregnant quickly. That's why I was on BC in the first place right? Because it just happens like that! Not. I didn't have a period until 2 months later and my cycles weren't exactly regular after that. Then in October 2013 they just stopped. So my doctor and I started discussing what to do about it in December 2013, about 9 months into TTC. Blood tests showed my hormones were fine. Ultrasound didn't show any signs of PCOS. I did a couple rounds of Prevaira (? - to trigger periods) but it still wasn't happening on it's own. Then in February 2014 she told me that she thinks I'm just not ovulating and suggested we start trying Clomid, but wanted my hubby to get checked out since he had an accident when he was younger and his fertility might have been affected by some of the drugs he was given as a child. So Sean got his swimmers checked... and double checked... and he's fine. Excellent count, some mobility irregularities but nothing that should be a hindrance. To be honest that was a relief. I knew he would take it personally if there was something wrong and kind of give up. (His go to saying at the end of the month is "I don't want kids anyway." I know this is a lie because he was practically begging me to have kids BEFORE we were married and I said we had to wait.) Then suddenly my period showed up in March and I got my script for the Clomid. I decided to wait until April to get the pills (seeing as I had already missed the time for them in my cycle.) Surprisingly my period showed up again in April and I started the first round of Clomid. The blood tests showed that the 50mg dose was enough to trigger ovulation but since I am here now it's pretty obvious that round 1 didn't work. My period showed up on the very morning that I was planning on taking a pregnancy test and I was devastated. So I called my Dr, got another script and prepared for Round 2. I am currently on Day 14 of my cycle and trying not to obsess about sex.
So there you go. That is about as abbreviated as that story gets. I would tell you about the constant nagging in the back of my mind, the hurtful comments from family that don't know they're being hurtful, or the feeling of dread when it's period time and I'm praying there are two lines but trying desperately not to get my hopes up - but I'm pretty sure if you're here then you probably already know about all that. And the whole time I'm typing this I'm trying not to think about looking like a b*tch because I told you all about this when I pray to God I get pregnant this month and this post will be all for naught.

@jericaLH ...at 50mg it is unlikely you are at risk for overstimulation, its very good that you're starting out on such a low dose. The twins increase is across the board but clomid triplets are pretty rare (although they do happen, I'm currently on a cycle where I had three mature follicles pre ovulation, eek!). You def should be monitored though because you will waste time/money and risk health complications without it. Standard is to get one ultrasound at CD3/4 to check for cysts/clean system, Another ultrasound about CD14 (roughly 5 days after you stop your clomid), blood check for progesterone around CD21 and your beta at CD 28 (assuming you have a well timed cycle, which not a lot of us here have
). Definitely get an HSG if you can though, that is to rule out major anatomical barriers like a blocked tube. If you have a blocked tube all the clomid in the world won't help you!
Good luck and I hope you're out of here ASAP
Don't feel bad about hoping that is your only post and you land pregnant this month...we all hope that!
Naria is right...an HSG and a RE are a must! My obgyn was smart enough to do an HSG however I was completely unmonitored (and uneducated) and took clomid for 2 months before I sought out an RE! You can take all the fertility drugs in the world but if your tubes or blocked you're going to have the same results every month!
The ladies here are so wonderful, supportive, and experienced (all different!) There is always a few that can directly relate to your situation and give the best advice!
Good luck!

I want to thank everyone so very much for all your advice. It really feels good knowing that there are people out there who feel my pain. Before deciding to post on here I really felt alone.
Since I'm currently in the middle of my cycle I'm going to wait this one out and hope for the best, but if nothing happens I think I'm going to ask my OBGYN for a referral to a RE. It seems like maybe this is just out of her range of expertise. Sean probably won't like it because we really didn't want to do all the planning and scheduling, just wanted to get pregnant naturally, but at this point I don't think that's an option anymore.
Again, thank you so much for all your support. You have no idea how much it means to me.

Welcome, and I'm sorry your having trouble TTC, but I'm glad you are here and sharing.
I think I understand your feeling of surprise, Why don't we just get pregnant right after stopping birth control? I was so shocked myself; we had very thoughtfully/prayerfully decided when it was good to get pregnant and then it was a total shock when it didn't happen in a few months.
My DH also does the back and forth thing, "I don't care if we have kids," "I don't really want kids." I think he (and maybe many men?) honestly can compartmentalize that well to relieve some of the pain, but I know that I can't!
I'm glad you O'ed well on the Clomid! Lol about obsessing over sex - what I found worked best for us was just to act like I was really, really attracted to DH and not let on that it was just for babymaking. Of course I'm sure he knew the reality, but again, I think this might be a man thing - it really worked to keep the pressure off during O time.
I hope you do get PG right away after posting here, Lol..that would be awesome and nothing to feel bad about
You mentioned a small issue with motility - if you find a few months of medication hasn't worked yet, adding IUI can make a huge different in pregnancy chances, even for couples with good sperm. And the way they wash and concentrate the sperm for IUI increases motility a lot, which makes a big difference. So if you are feeling frustrated about it, maybe it will help to know there are other simple steps that you can still try if needed? Good luck!
Welcome, and I'm also sorry you're here. Hopefully it is a short stay! I echo the things that previous posters have said. I am newer to the Trouble TTC and Infertility boards and am still in the education process, but I have an ob/gyn who took a lot of time to explain things to me. She did a lot of hormone tests, an ultrasound, blood tests and blood tests and blood tests. She diagnosed me with PCOS where my hormones are crazily out of whack.
Even though she knew what was wrong with me and explained the issue incredibly well, she still referred me to a Reproductive Endocrinologist because they can provide the extra monitoring necessary while undergoing fertility treatment. So like other poster, I would recommend that and ask questions. Another poster here told me to go on Pinterest (if you have a Pinterest account). I have found a lot of good things to read for education, lifestyle changes I can make and lists of questions to ask the doctor.
Maybe start here and add to the list of questions while you do your research: https://www.soulcysters.net/showthread.php/5071-Preparing-for-Your-PCOS-Consultation-Questions-to-Ask-Your-Doctor
If you feel more comfortable asking your regular doctor these questions first, do. With most medical diagnoses, it is good to get a second opinion and ask the same questions.
