The pedi advised to wean from the paci before LO turns two. That's obviously a long way off, but I'm thinking of doing it sooner rather than later and I was wondering where everyone else is at.

Re: Pacifier Use/Weaning

  • He never took a paci. She uses it at bedtime.

No plans to wean her off.

  • Maybe i will try weaning daytime use around 18 months. Maybe I will start to think about weaning from nighttime use around 2. No hurry here. I will go up until 3 for nighttime use and then it has to go but I am not trying to break something that isn't broke right now.

  • DD stopped using her's when she was around 4 months old. I keep one in her crib but she doesn't put it in her mouth, she likes to hold it or throw it lol.
  • R liked pacifiers are nap/bed time. But we are really fortunate because he self weened. Once he got his top teeth in, he wanted nothing to do with them. Right now if he finds an old one he throws it at the dogs.
  • Mine only liked them till about 3 months then he started sucking his thumbs...still does.. I have no idea how Ill be able to get him to stop that!!!

She used a paci throughout the day until 3-4 months. Then only for bed until about 9 months when she started to stand and cry when being put to bed. We did mild sleep training and in the course of that the paci was cut.

Natural BFP #4 on 9/7/12 gave us our miracle on 5/18/13

  • We started weaning a couple of weeks before she turned 1. Only have it at naps and at night, then took it away from naps and finally at night about a week after her bday. It's been almost a week and thankfully it hasn't been an issue. Next is the bottle to sippy for her WCM, which we'll switch this weekend :-)

  • W's pedi recommended having him off of the paci and bottles by the end of summer. It will be rough.

  • Dd mainly uses for sleep but if she keeps crying and we have tried everything else then we use it for public places. We are going to wean slowly throughout the months, my SIL waited until her kids were about two and they did pretty good.

  • I wanted to vote twice but it would only let me vote once. V never uses one, has always refused it. E uses one for naps and nighttime. I'm not sure when we'll wean, since she only uses it for sleep I'm not too worried about it.
