What kind of swimsuits do you usually buy/wear?

I've always been a bikini type of a girl but don't feel confident to wear one anymore. I found this tankini (in red) at a local dept store and wanted to get opinions on it.

What are your general feelings on tankinis?

I switched to tankini's afte having DS. I wore one last year but the top had no straps. I need straps. I like that one!!

I love one piece swim suits but I just cant find one that fits me well. Its either too big or too tight.

All the ones I've tried either accentuate my belly pouch or my floppy butt.

I usually wear bikinis, but I wear one pieces now to hide my tattoos. The only time I ever go to the beach is when I visit my dad and grandmother and they aren't fond of tattoos.. Anyways, I would suggest an Esther Williams one piece to everybody. I'm 25, and mine does not make me feel matronly at all, and I definitely feel sexy and confident in it. They come in like 100 different patterns/colors. Mine is the yellow "needlepoint" suit. They fit great for all sizes. Just make sure you buy a couple sizes up because they run small. Don't be vain

I wear running shorts and a t-shirt or tank top with a sports bra. I'm scared of swimsuits. LOL.

I used to wear bikinis when I was a long distance runner prior to LO. Now that my tummy isn't what I used to be I am switching to tankini. I really like the link you posted, very cute!

I hear you. It took a long time to find one that fit right. The one I got is similar to this. The ruching around the stomach helps hide my pouch.

Like, I usually wear size 6 to 7(yes, I wear teenager jeans :P ) in pants, or 4 in dresses, and I ordered a size 10. It is snug. In fact, I would order a 12 next time because the leg holes are a bit tight for my liking. Apparently I just have a big butt, haha..
It is vintage sizing, and you have to go to the actual Esther Williams site to see her size chart because it is different. Write down all your measurements and, whatever your largest measurement is in accordance with the chart, that's the size you should get. (I matched up to the 12 but I felt a little ridiculous and got a size 10) but trust me.

I really like those swim suits, especially the yellow one (the one you have) but I was worried about the sizes. I might need a size 12 or 14 even.

Not a fan of tankinis for myself, but I think they are a great idea.

I love a sexy one piece. I have one from Lands End that I love and also a vintage looking swimsuit from Walmart-- it's the Catalina one that everyone is always talking about.

Yes-- I am usually a 10 in pants and dresses and the M was perfect.

I'm a pear - a very pear pear. So, tankini's do absolutely nothing to help the problem - which is my hips/thighs. So, I go bikini (or one piece, especially when swimming for exercise), so I can balance out the not so great bits with the better bits. :P
