NBR: At home Smoothies!

Any Mommas make smoothies?  And I'm talking about fairly healthy ones - not ones that could be mistaken for a milkshake (mmmmmmmmm)!  I'm bored with breakfast stuff and now that its getting warmer out, would love some cold smoothies instead.

What are your favorite mixtures/flavors??

Re: NBR: At home Smoothies!

  • Mommy's Smoothie

    4 cups crushed ice
1 to 14 cups of vodka (depending on the mood)
2 oz jiggers coffee flavored liqueur
2 oz jiggers Irish cream liqueur
    2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
    1/2 cup whipped cream

    :P

  • I've seen some really great ones on pinterest with chia seeds, fruits, veggies and greek yogurt.

When we make them we usually use frozen fruit (I like berries), a banana, yogurt or milk, and maybe some protein powder or flax seeds depending on what we have on hand.

Well that sounds fantastic and I WILL keep!  ;-)
  • I get frozen fruit, or freeze fruit myself to make smoothies so I don't have to add additional ice.

    2 cups frozen berries
1 banana (can be frozen too)
    1 cup orange juice

I don't really measure, that's more or less what I put in there. You can probably add flax or chia or whatever you want for an extra nutritional boost. or make it green by adding spinach or kale

  • Frozen strawberries, 2 T PB2 peanut butter powder, 1 container vanilla yogurt, skim milk to get desired consistency. It tastes like PB&J!

    These sound wonderful ladies!!

I also have unflavored protein powder and cacao powder (superfood!) - anything with PB is awesooooooooome.

@WildRumpus I've seen you post about PB2 before.  How come you use it over regular PB?  Just being nosey!!  I've always been intrigued by it...
  • @ludali‌ it's pressed, so the fat has been majorly reduced. 2 TB is 45 calories. I love peanut butter, so it's a good way to have it be almost guilt free :)

@WildRumpus WHOA - well that is good enough reason!  I may be purchasing VERY soon.
  • 1 cup of milk, 2 T PB2, 1 frozen banana and an ice cube (optional). So yummy!

  • I am not a peanut butter fan so my go-to is:
    Handful strawberries
    Banana
    Frozen mango
    Watermelon if we have it
    Splash OJ
    4 ice cubes
    4 oz yogurt

You can pretty much add any fruit - blueberries or pineapple are good choices.
