Trouble TTC

Horrible morning

So I went for my CD 3 appointment today of what should be my first injects cycle, and I have a HUGE cyst. She said it was 4 cm, (in case you're not a metric system fan, that's 40mm). I have to wait for my blood work results to be sure, but it looks like this cycle will be cancelled. :-( Unless I've magically started ovulating on my own, this means I'll have to wait a month, get more labs "to make sure I'm not pregnant," take Provera for 10 days, and then wait another week for a period. I am so angry and upset. It is so, so unfair.

*********School children mentioned***********

Then I decided to try to make it through work (I'm a teacher). The first thing I had to do was supervise the crosswalk between the bus and parent drop-off lane. Some lady tried to drive through the bus lane, so I waved for her to drive through the car lane. She rolled down her window and said, "I know. I went the wrong way, and now I'm turning around, so don't wave your hand at me, bitch." I kind of shrugged it off, and then she got at the end of a long line of cars. When she finally pulled up she rolled her window down to yell at me some more so I told her I didn't like her attitude. She called me a bitch again, and I asked if those were her kids because I was trying to figure out who she was so I could report her. She said, "yeah, you got a problem with it?" I told her I was sorry her kids had to hear that. Then she called me a cunt and said she was going to get me fired.

WTF?! This was all before 9:00!! Long story short, I couldn't stop crying between the two things, and my principal sent me home, so now I'm sitting on my couch complaining to you guys.

Help me get through this! What do you do to pass time on benched cycles? Any experience with cysts so big? Thoughts on when it might go away? Should I ask the nurse about birth control this afternoon when she calls?

I don't have any advice, but I want say how sorry I am! That really sucks to hear about a cyst when I have been reading about you starting your injects cycle :(

And people are so rude. I can't believe she would talk to you like that ever.. especially with her kids near... I remember being so embarrassed by my mother and her tendency to freak out.

As for passing the time, is there a month long program you could sign up for as a little treat to yourself/way to pass the time? Maybe an outdoors fitness class or something like that? I'm so sorry :(

    Oh Noo!! (((HUGS)))

What an awful way to start the day. :( I'm so sorry you're morning has been rough.

Regarding the cyst, there's not much I can say there as I have not experienced one before. I hope that there is no pain involved and that it shrinks hella fast for you.

Regarding that "lady" in the bus lane, Holy Cow!!! How can people act this way to other human beings? Is there no way for you to write up a formal complaint against her for verbal abuse? I sincerely feel sorry for her kids.

Take the day to spoil yourself in some way, food, a movie, shopping, anything. You deserve it.

I hope you don't mind me chiming in -- I'm in the Infertility group, but lurk here from time to time. I am so sorry you had to deal with that "woman" today! What a unbelievable disaster of a human being!! I feel so sorry for her kids as they do not seem to stand much of a chance with a role model like that. I hope you were able to figure out who she was and report her sorry, inappropriate a$$. I am just so livid on your behalf.

As for advice... I have never had to deal with cysts like that, so I am afraid I do not have any great advice to share. I'm not very patient, either, so no great recommendations for passing the time other than maybe picking up a good book or finding a show to binge on for a while. Good luck!!

  • Oh my goodness, what a terrible way to start the day! I'm sooo sorry you had to deal with the wretched bitch on top of your disappointing news this morning. I can't believe the way people act in front of their children. Setting great examples, huh? Sounds like your principal is pretty understanding, so at least there's that.

I would definitely ask about birth control, I know it sucks to accept being REALLY out of the game for a cycle but it is definitely the most effective treatment plan. Try and do something nice for yourself today....don't let someone's rage issues and all together trashy behavior add to the stress you're facing.

October 2010: first consultation with RE, dx PCOS and fibroids (DH slightly low count/motility)
Oct. 2010 - Dec. 2012:  In DENIAL! avoided the issue because I was scared of surgery
January 2013: returned to RE, fibroids grew significantly
February 2013: second HSG, fibroids pushed on tubes which blocked them somewhat
March 2013: MRI to determine what type of surgery may be necessary

July 29, 2013: fibroids (5) removed via robotic laparascopy
August 2013 - Nov 2013 : benched due to recent surgery

May 16, 2014: wtf consult, start prepping for IVF in June and add injects for one last IUI in the meantime
IUI #5 started letrozole and bravelle but canceled after HSG led to new diagnosis

May 21, 2014: third HSG, tubes blocked, one at the beginning, one hydrosalpinx??
June 11, 2014: consult, approved to move on to IVF because the hydro is not completely blocked therefore allowing fluid to move through slowly rather than backwards
    IVF #1 August 8, 2014 - 3dt of 2 embryos, BFN
September 17, 2014 - 4th HSG, the right tube is very patent (open!!) dye went straight through this time. Weird!
    October 2, 2014 - started metformin treatment
    November 14, 2014 - blood work, brought A1C down from 5.8 to 5.5

November 26, 2014 - RE finally back from vaca and reviewed my chart, no more IVFs for rest of calendar year
December 1, 2014 - Right after Thanksgiving, I called a new clinic and got in right away! Plan for IVF
    December 17, 2014 - ER! 29 retrieved (!!), 16 mature, all 16 fertilized (ICSI)

  • What a bitch!!! Poor kids had to hear their mom act like that. People amaze me everyday.

I had 2 cyst on my right ovary between my 2nd and 3rd injection cycle. Mine were 30mm and 20mm. My Dr actually just put me on bcp for 2 weeks and I went back for another appt and they were gone and we immediately started another cycle. I think because of my age my Dr doesn't waste any time getting me started again. For this IVF cycle I had a 20mm cyst and bcp for another 4 days and it disappeared. I think as long as the cyst isn't producing estrogen it should go away fairly quickly especially on bcp. It sucks regardless but hopefully it will go away quickly. I'm sorry.
    Fucking bump!!!!

  • I'm so sorry! I've never heard anyone speak that way to a stranger, and certainly to not a teacher. It must be nice taking out all your aggression on someone who has to be nice no matter what.

I've had 5cm and 6cm cysts. The only advice I got was to be careful to prevent torsion - no sports, strenuous activity (not that those are a part of my life in any way!). Also to contact doctor immediately if any serious pain starts (because torsion can cause part of the ovary to become necrotic). Since we were TTC but not getting any treatments at that time, I was told to just wait and see (F/U ultrasound a month or so later) and it had resolved itself.

  • Thanks, guys! I'm sure this will be a huge roller coaster of emotions for me, but it makes me feel really good to have your support. And a few of you made me laugh too!!

I've been doing some research, and it sounds, like @CaterinaC said, that there really isn't any evidence that says BC will shrink them faster. The upside of BC would be that I probably wouldn't need Provera, but I also haven't tried to ovulate on my own in a while, so even though I want to keep doing medicated cycles, it wouldn't be all bad for us to see where things stand with my ovaries.

Does anyone know if cysts keep your body from ovulating naturally?

Thanks, @BunnyBerry. I was wondering if it could be potentially dangerous to my ovaries. I am unhappy with my weight and want to start running this summer (again), but I guess I need to check with the nurse about that too. It was also nice to hear that even though you had such a large cyst, it still went away pretty quickly. Everything I have been reading has said it can take up to 3 months!! I am *really* hoping that isn't the case.

  • @lebradford‌ yes some cyst can cause you not to ovulate. That happened to me years ago, I didn't have a period for 4 months thanks to a cyst. I'm not sure if it's only the ones producing estrogen or not.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • That is some stone cold redneck low class shit to yell at a teacher while dropping off your kid.  How lovely to know she has offspring to perpetuate this behavior.

I'm so sorry that happened to you :( If you see her car parked anywhere in town, toss on a couple pieces of bologna in the hot sun.  It'll peel the paint right off it.

No advice on how to deal between cancelled cycles... I've self-benched for scheduling reasons and I just try to forget about it as best I can.  It's easy enough to just stop with the temping, charting, OPKs, and all the other bullshit I worry about when I'm on a cycle.  I relax and enjoy some good drinks and lose myself in books, movies, nights out with friends, etc.  Enjoy life :) nothing worse than spending so much time worrying over a cycle.  At least now you're free of that burden of worry until AF starts again.  That's how I see it.

    ((((HUGS))))

    >:D<
  • Remind me to never piss off @wishiwaspreggo I don't want bologna thrown on my car. How have I never known this? I did love the "stone cold redneck low class shit", I'm going to have to remember that one. :-)
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • Its always nice to think about karma catching up with people like this but does it ever actually happen?

sorry about all of this @lebradford you don't deserve any of it.

And now you know who that someone is.

As for the cysts Dr's have always put me on bcp. I am never sure if they helped or the cysts went away on gheir own.

I would find something that makes you happy. I like to spend time in my garden either working in it or lying in my hammock. (((Hugs)))

Hang in there!    It is always so shocking to me what people will subject their kids to.

  • Hope your day got better.
Ready to take the road less traveled.
  • Having been benched with a cyst for a couple of months, I'd suggest taking the bcps just to have an endpoint...also, my cyst seemed to shrink while on name brand pills, but not on generic due to the decreased bioavailability. Most low dose pills don't stop ovulation, they change the lining so that nothing would implant.

  • ((Hugs)) Getting benched sucks :( After my over response I did 2 weeks of BCPs and didn't have any cysts going into the next cycle. Since you don't cycle on your own, it might be worth looking into BCPs so that you at least have an end point to this cycle. Hopefully you can cycle again soon!

That's what I was thinking. My nurse said birth control pills were unnecessary. However, a lot of the reason I want them is because if we don't have them, my one *cycle* of being benched is going to turn into two *months*.

I'm a teacher, and it has been hard balancing appointments with work (as I'm sure it is for everyone), but I have the next 2.5 months to focus on treatment, so being benched for potentially 2 months of that is so, so frustrating to me.

I might call my doctor and beg him personally or see if he has a plan other than waiting an entire month, taking Provera for 10 days, and waiting another week. There has to be something better....
    **siggy warning**  **everyone welcome**
