M hasn't done it, but I remember reading (or pinteresting) using the bumpers. Take the bumpers and tie them to the top railing of the crib. So they will chew on that and not the crib.

My sister had the same issue with her girls (and I think we are starting too as well)...she used something like this:  https://www.amazon.com/Prince-Lionheart-Crib-Rail-Teether/dp/B003FIO7OE

I love the fleece idea too - really any fabric with some padding underneath would do the trick!
  • That's really cute, @etc35173

We bought rail covers off of Amazon. Like @etc35173 said, the corners are still exposed but she doesn't tend to mess with them. Now if I could figure out a way to get her to stop chewing on me...
Seriously! He ALWAYS goes after my feet!

eta: Rereading that it sounds SO weird! He also likes to try and bite my arm and legs. A part of me is slightly thankful I'm not BF.

  • E just started doing this and I bought a rail cover on Amazon.  Our crib is a hand-me-down from SIL's kids, so it's already a bit scratched up here and there, but I want to keep it nice enough to use for another baby and then sell.  The cover I got is by Leachco and has some vellcro straps on it for attaching toys.  We didn't put any toys on it, but E loves to suck on straps, so he just does that now.

  • i saw the pool noodle idea on pinterest. I'm probably going to invest in a bunch of them at the end of the season. Is there anything the noodle can't do??

My only concern with the noodle is if they are chewing, wouldn't they just be able to chew on the foam of the noodle? I would be worried about pieces of it coming off and being ingested (but I am also a worry-wart).
I thought about that too, but it would be covered with fabric, so I don't think it would come through.

  • DS was doing this so I used his crib bumper that we weren't using anyway. Worked out great!
