  • It's actually what prompted me to take a test, Bailey (the little one in my pictures) had to be touching my belly at all times!

My outdoor cat knew (we had to put her down recently). She was protective and would growl, I'd never heard that cat do anything other than purr in the last three years until I was about 9wks along this time.

Not sure about my other cat, he's calmer but it may be his age and being make and getting out of the kitty stage as he's about 1.5.

  • 3 out of 4 of my cats have been extra snuggly.  the other one is hard to tell because he's like my familiar or something...he's always glued to me anyway.  lol

  • @KMW08 - so sorry to hear about your cat :(.

I think my dogs know because they've been extra snuggly...although that may just be me, too, since I'm trying to get as much time with them as possible right now. I'm pretty sure my cat is oblivious or if he knows his only concern is that we don't forget to feed him when the baby comes ;).

  • Oh, my dog definitely knows. She also saw the baby move from the outside before I did. I felt a movement, and she popped up from the floor and looked at me like, "What was THAT?"

She's been extra snuggly lately as well.

All of this. Our dog Lucy has always been drawn to me over DH, but even more so now. Our cat is rather self centered and only pretends to want to be with us when his dish is empty.

  • I put I'm not sure. In my last pregnancy that ended in m/c, my dog seemed to know something was up (and maybe something was wrong?) she would lay with me with her head on my belly every night up until the point where the baby stopped developing. This time, she seems like she could care less :)

  • You know how they say dogs can sense when their owner is upset?  Mine has never once tried to comfort me when I was crying.  I'm pretty sure she's completely clueless about this, too.  It will be quite the rude awakening for her.  I don't think she'll figure out something's up until we start rearranging furniture and setting up a nursery.
