Re: Running/Walking/Exercise Check In

  • How were your runs/walks/exercise this week? If you are still running, how is that going? I am still running but also incorporating walking. I usually can run for 10-12 minutes at a time and then need a walking break. Yesterday I had a great run... 4.5 miles, but a couple of hours later, my hips and knees were really bothering me. I think my joints are loosening already so I might have to pull back even more on running. I did 2 running sessions and 2 strengthening sessions this past week. Today I just walked as I'm still sore from yesterday.

Anything big or exciting happening this week? Nothing big happening however I am now feeling baby on the outside. DH hasn't yet but I think it's just a matter of a few days before the baby is kicking all the time and he can feel her.

GTKY: What is the perfect breakfast for you? I love French toast! I will have all the french toast and a side of fruit!

Your post is inspiring though maybe I will try to jog with the dog. Although she may be too old too :(

  • I was wondering if anyone has a good workout for arm toning. My arms are always one of the first places to gain weight and they are not cute right now. I have 5 & 8lb hand weights I can use.
    Thanks for any suggestions :)

  • How were your runs/walks/exercise this week? If you are still running, how is that going?
I have been walking 3 miles every week day morning with the dogs. My pace is really improving. I haven't been running. But I may start again. Slowly. Intervals probably. And the schedule at my yoga studio changed so I haven't found the right classes for me yet. But I will.
Anything big or exciting happening this week?
Have an appointment tomorrow morning and then on Thursday get to travel half a day to see my family. Haven't seen them since Christmas. Excited bc my cousin is also PG.
GTKY: What is the perfect breakfast for you?
Toast or waffles with butter and honey on one slice and peanut butter and bananas on the other. Or cereal with granola and honey and fresh fruit. I love breakfast. Especially on the weekend. French toast. Breakfast burrito. Biscuits and gravy. Mimosas. Mmm. All of it.

  • I am power walking 1 day per week for about 1.5-2 miles each time.  It's not much, but better than nothing.  I miss running, but I was getting too winded to keep it up.

We leave for Mexico on Thursday.  I am super excited, but also not sure how this vacation will go with a 14 month old.  At least one of my friends going is also preggo so I won't be the only one not enjoying the all inclusive alcohol.

Right now I am loving hashbrowns with a fried egg on top.  Today I even added cheese to it and it was amazing!!!!!

I've been sticking to walking incline treadmill workouts for my regular cardio, 30 min most days. My abdomen is starting to feel a little bouncy. I've also gone swimming the past couple of weekends and really noticed how much that involves my core.

I have a fetal echo at the MFM on Thursday, and a regular OB appointment on Friday. I'm looking forward to seeing how my little workout partner is doing.

Lately I'm really enjoying English muffins topped with almond butter and a touch of no sugar added raspberry jam.

  • Wow. You ladies are awesome! This is inspiring. :)

How were your runs/walks/exercise this week? If you are still running, how is that going?

I've just been walking after dinner with DH and DS, but DS ambles and picks up rocks/explores, so it's not much "exercise." I've determined that to really improve my fitness, I'll need to get out and walk on my own.

Anything big or exciting happening this week?

Found out LO is growing perfectly and is a boy. :)

GTKY: What is the perfect breakfast for you?

My favorite breakfast is cereal with milk, but I've been working on eating better, so an egg + toast + banana is what I've been having lately. :)

I know exactly what you mean! I was starting to build lean, toned arms before I got pregnant (something that had never happened before) and now my arms are back to flabby and no longer toned. However, I am hoping that once I lose the pregnancy weight I can go back to where I was (hard to believe it can happen but really hoping!).

I have a couple of workouts that I love and are pretty simple. Honestly for me, it's a lot about push ups and planks but you can adjust as you see fit and even build your own workout by just looking at these and moving things around or adding as would work for you. I usually add/remove/repeat depending on what I want to accomplish for the day.

  • Still trying to hit the gym 3-4 days a week... Rough break from years of running and working out 5-6 days a week, but baby needs sleep, and night shift isn't helping ;-). When I do get to the gym I still have decent workouts with strength training and either running or treadmill, but I'm having a hard time coping with almost 10min miles becoming the norm. I'm 19w3d and my old trainer can't tell I'm preggo, so I'm waiting on my bump to pop and the need to purchase a belly band.

Nothing exciting, construction starting in my condo in 2 wks to do our 3rd bedroom so I can use our guest room as the nursery!

I love making egg sandwiches on bagel thins with 2 egg whites scrambled and cooked in the microwave (shape of the bowl fits bagel perfectly), topped with a turkey sausage and cheese :).

  • My attempt at running (once) was not so good this week.  I could barely run for a couple of minutes before I got winded and needed to walk.  Therefore, most of my workouts have been solely walking.  Most days I try to walk anywhere from 3-9 miles (I know large range.  Weekends are usually on the higher end)

No exciting news to report here!

My favorite breakfast and one I miss the most is a classic American breakfast with bacon or sausage, eggs, and hashbrowns.  I really miss Bob Evans!  They don't have the typical American style bacon here in Australia (they only sell Canadian bacon) and they don't really do breakfast sausage at all (if they do, it's not spiced right).

  • I use 6 pound weights and follow a mommy arm toning in Pinterest if u find a better one let me know I'm interested as well
  • How were your runs/walks/exercise this week? If you are still running, how is that going? We moved into our new house this weekend, so I was considering that my workout for most days. I also just started a new prenatal yoga class that I'm loving and I went for a run for the first time in a few weeks yesterday. It went pretty well but it's amazing how out of breath I get now!

Anything big or exciting happening this week? See above. Our new house is the most exciting thing. We had a few rooms remodeled before we moved in and still have people around fixing up some of the rooms, but almost all of the big stuff should be completely done by the end of this week. We love the new house already.

GTKY: What is the perfect breakfast for you? I usually make a smoothie with fruit, peanut butter, and either spinach or kale. Lots of nutrients and keeps me full all morning. On the weekends when I have more time, I love eggs.

  • How were your runs/walks/exercise this week? If you are still running, how is that going?
Running is slowing down for sure.  Still getting out there twice a week, but down to 2 - 3 miles with walk breaks! Going to the gym usually 3 days a week on top of that, doing ~30 min elliptical and then some light weights.
Anything big or exciting happening this week?
Nothing until my next appointment on Monday
GTKY: What is the perfect breakfast for you?
I love French toast!  French toast and some fresh fruit is my favorite :)

  • How were your runs/walks/exercise this week? If you are still running, how is that going?

I seem to be slowing down and driving me nuts - B/F pregnancy I was running 6 days a week and doing some kind of strength training 3-4 days a week. But my work schedule got busier and now I can't do second work out at 8pm and just eat dinner late as Lo doesn't like that. My run today was no fun - I got a cramp in my lower back calf and then my foot started to get numb - calf still hurts. I was doing 9 1/2 min miles, but seem now to average at 10.5 and 11.5. I'm also gaining weight too fast, I think and that is slowing me down too. I need to get more strength training in as my butt and arms look flabby and awful. I have the Brazilian Butt Lift workout - but some exercises I can't do any longer and you have to do it daily and I can't always get to it. But I'll keep plugging and keep trying to at least run 4-5 days a week (3.5 to 4 miles).

Anything big or exciting happening this week?
Nope - just average day to day.  Next weekend my folks come...that's about as exciting as it gets. :)
GTKY: What is the perfect breakfast for you? I never changed my breakfast from before pregnant. I eat a fruit on the bottom organic yogurt (sometimes regular, some times greek) with almonds and granola. Only change is I eat a bit more granola now and snack sooner in the late morning.
