Just heard baby's heartbeat for 1st time!

Wow, I just had my midwife appointment and heard baby's heartbeat for the first time. We opted not to get a 12 week scan and I'm almost 15 weeks along now, so hearing that pulsing rhythm was so great and really put hubby and I at ease that all is going well in there!
Anyone else choosing not to have a 12 week scan?

Re: Just heard baby's heartbeat for 1st time!

  • Congrats! We had a few scans, including 12 weeks because of a previous loss, but HEARING the heartbeat at 13 weeks was something else. Such an amazing experience.

  • awesomesauce!!!! \:D/ yes we have due to losses. we also purchased a doppler to listen at home. congrats it is so awesome
  • That's such a special moment!! So happy for you! We have heard the baby's heart bear since 5w6d at the doctors.. And almost daily since 8w6d at home with our dopler. I've had 4 losses and currently high risk so I like having the reassurance of checking on baby daily with my dopler. Since our first doctors appointment we have had about 15 doctors visits/sonos (just routine follow ups) -- so we have seen baby literally weekly since 5w6d, but hearing bay heartbeat will never get old!

All the best for this pregnancy. I hope it goes smoothly! You must really feel like you know baby after seeing/ hearing it so often. It seems like the Home Doppler is very popular!

  • We had scans at 6w, 8w, and 12w but no NT scan.
We only had a scan at 12w bc they couldn't find the hb. After multiple losses, the hb never gets old!

  • I did not have a 12 week scan, but I own a doppler and was able to find the HB at 11w4d! It is an amazing sound! Congrats on hearing your little one :)
