Stay at Home Moms

how often do you go to the playground?

I seem to never remember to take Ds to the park/playground. Not sure why. Maybe because i know people are judging me for either being close to him or to far away from him the whole time. Lol

I am hoping that now that he is 3 and can do a lot of it more independently we will go more often.

How often do you go? When you go how long do you usually stay? Are you more of an active and involved playmate at the park or stand back and watch?

  • When they were little almost daily. Now that we have school and sports probably once a week or so.
  • Loading the player...
  • I take Drew a few times a week. Emma just finished school, but when she was in school 3 days she usually only went 2-3 times a week. Julia goes maybe one afternoon after school plus at least once on the weekends.

  • Once or twice a week during spring/summer/fall.

However, we have about 3 acres of land, so we have plenty of space for them to roam here. And we have to drive into town to get to the park. It's way easier to just open the door and say "go play outside".

If I lived in town like when I was young, we'd go practically every day.

I go to the park so they can entertain themselves. I am not a hoverer.

  • Probably 3-4 times a week.

  • Maybe twice a week. More as the days get longer (then we might walk there after dinner). We stay at our local once about a half hour. If we drive to a special once we usually pack a picnic and stay 1.5 hours.

  • When they were younger and we had a playground in our neighborhood we went almost daily. Now that they are in school full time we don't go very often in spring and fall. The closest playground is 20 minutes for our house though. In the summer we go maybe once a week for a couple hours. Ours has a splash pad too so they play at both.

  • We go two mornings a week (we have activities the other three mornings) and we stay at Emily's school a few afternoons each week to play on the school playground and ride scooters/bikes and play basketball and wall ball.

  • 1-maybe 2x a week during good weather. It largely depends on the weather and our schedule. I usually take the kids to a park about 15 min from our house because it usually has other kids at it during the week.

  • It's on our walk (for the dogs) so unless it's rainy or subzero 2x a day. If we play or not has more to do with how many people are there.

We go almost every day there is good weather. However, we only have one car which DH takes to work so that makes a big difference. I get bored being cooped up in our apartment.

I stand back except to make sure she is safe or to catch her at the slide. I pretty much stand near the edge the whole time, but she's still young. Once she gets older, I will sit on the bench (<- I can't wait for these days).

  • Almost every day if the weather's nice.... but our park is just a mile away and we don't really have a yard so I love walking them over in the stroller. How long we stay depends on if they get fussy, start trying to run away from me, etc.

Almost daily. If I don't take him, then DH will at night. I don't really engage that much. I will watch him and talk to him, but am not on the equipment with him.

  •  A lot -  3-5 times a week. I pretty much sit now that I am pregnant and it is hot. :)

We frequent a bunch of local parks (at least 9 that I can think of). The younger two go 3-5 times a week (often morning meet ups with a moms group or after we run at the trail that surrounds the park) and DS1 goes 1-2 times since he's in school. In the summer we go 4 or 5 times a week. DH works night/day swing shifts and needs to sleep during the day at least half of the month so I try to keep them out of the house most mornings to keep routine.
  • I'd say at least 4 times a week.

  • We back on a private park, so the kids play out there nearly daily when the weather allows.

Before that, we'd go to the park at least once a week, and play at the school playground a couple times per week.

  • 5xs a week. We go three days when I pick up ds from school since they have a fun playground then 2x or so as we live less than a five minute walk from our elementary school. My involvement varies on the kids. Ds completely ignores me to play with other kids. Dd mostly is uninterested in kids her age and always grabbing me to play whether it's making sand castles, making pretend food for me or watching/joining her on the slide so with her a whole lot.

I will say, though, we usually are the only people at the playground.  I guess other kids don't play outside...?

I have noticed this as well. I find we usually end up going when teenagers are there. It is really odd.

Once or twice a week. We'd probably go more often if there was a park within walking distance of us.

ETA: I was pretty involved until this summer because he'd need the help or reminders not to jump off the 5 foot tall platforms. This year, he is completely independent so I just let him do his thing unless he asks for help or asks me to play with him.

  • Once or twice a week but if we go too much ds1 gets bored with it. It's much better when we go with friends
  • We go everyday. We have 4 playgrounds in walking distance. I run outside almost every morning & the days Z tags along we will go to the park for an hour or an hour & a half afterwards. If she doesn't go (home with DH on the days he doesn't work until 10) I get an early run in then come home & take her for a couple hours. After nap we usually do splash pad, library, different park, or pool. We are always outside! Haha
  • We go about once a week when the weather is nice. But today the slides and swings were too hot so now we may go less.
  • When I pick her up from school (vs the bus).. so maybe 2-3 times a week, I let her stay after school and play on the playground @ her school with friends for like 30 minutes. (before I have to drag her away for homework and what not).

When school is out, we go maybe 3-4 times?  We're close to a park and she looooves it.

  • We go about twice a week. I do not get involved in the kid's play unless it is to push a swing.
