TTC After a Loss

/|\ November angels check-in 6/3 /|\

This is a weekly check-in for those who have lost an angel with a November EDD. If you would like to be added to our group, please reply to this message with your EDD and date and stage of loss. Please also tell us a little bit about yourself and your TTCAL journey so far. Those with loss dates in November are also welcome. As time goes on, it is only to be expected that there will be graduates, which means that there will at times be BFPs listed here. On weeks when we do have a BFP to celebrate, you’ll see a warning at the top of the page, which is provided so you’ll have the option of scrolling past the announcement if you need to. If you do get your BFP, please PM me so that we can congratulate you appropriately in the next check-in.

General Updates: How are you doing? Any appointments or other updates you’d like to share?

Shout outs: If you aren't listed, we haven’t heard from you for a week or two. Please jump in!

@HMR11913, I see crosshairs! And, it looks like your OPK's were very accurate. I know charting is a little challenging at first but I think you'll continue to see good, clear patterns the more experience you get with it. How are you feeling about this cycle?
@redtwizzlersHi, friend. I'm very sorry for the BFN today ((HUGS)). It's still early, so I'll keep my FX.
@MrsKush1014I'm glad you had a great trip! How are you this week?
@tlc35, Looks like you're probably in the 2WW? GL!
@sarcaztic10, Your chart is making me a sad panda. I wish this AO cycle would end for you! How are things going with your home selling and buying? Last I knew you had made an offer that wasn't accepted at first, but then later the seller came back with a counter offer...
@Kvillano82, I'm so glad the strep is gone. Looks like you are 11dpIUI...when do you plan to test? GL!
@DenaMaree, I'm sorry those betas went down so slowly last week. FX for good results at your next draw on Friday. Also, I am envious of all your summer travel plans!
@LesliW, Well, this isn't the first time your chart has left me scratching my head. Do you think your CH's from last cycle ended up in the right place? Either way, I'm very sorry AF arrived ((HUGS)).
@littlecookie, How were those beta results from last week's draw?
@raelynn71109, I'm glad there was no retained tissue found at the sonogram. How did it go with the Cytotec?
@mara005, I see you are 7DPO! When do you plan to test? I've got everything crossed.
@chicagojackie, How are you this week? Are you in the 2WW now?
@katydid2014, I know you weren't getting your hopes up, but I'm sorry about CD1. ((HUGS)). Do you think you are on for IUI#3 this cycle?
@cf101009How are things this week? I know you work at a school... does that mean you have summer vacation coming up soon?
@ReadheadRunning, Did you have the hysteroscopy today? If so, how did it go and how did you handle being in the RE's office again? ((HUGS))
@lisaren, How are you this week?

Finally, welcome once again to the 2 new members who unfortunately had to join us last week: RedheadRunning and lisaren. ((HUGS)), ladies.

QOTW: How do you feel about public speaking? Have you had to stand up and talk to a large audience? If so, how did it go?

Re: /|\ November angels check-in 6/3 /|\

  • As always, thanks @HeyMrsPotter <3. I hope all is well with you!  I am not going to test…I go for my PG blood work on Friday, and they tell you not to test (until that morning, if you want). I am just going to wait and let them do it…it sounds funny, but part of me feels like the longer I wait, the more days I have that I have a chance of being pregnant. I am too afraid to test myself, just because of how many BFNs I have seen on those damn sticks, you know?  I guess we shall see…

Welcome, @ReadheadRunning and @lisaren . Sorry that you had to join us, but welcome.

QOTW: I actually really like public speaking. I know the fact that I am a high school teacher doesn't necessarily mean that I like speaking in public, but it just comes naturally to me. I have had to do some presentations at (nerd alert) English teacher conventions, and I just really like it.

@heymrspotter, thanks for the check in and I hope you are doing well.
@kvillano82 fx for your beta on friday!

My chart is actually driving me a little nutty.  Since I had that weird temp drop I don't really trust my crosshairs and I'm not sure if I actually O'd or not.  Day 12  is a really early O for me and my temp is wacky.  Hence I'm still peeing on OPK's.  I guess I just have to wait and see. It is just frustrating since next cycle I will likely be OOT for FW.

ETA Forgot QOTW: I don't really mind public speaking.  I definitely prefer it to small talk with strangers.

Thanks for the check-in @HeyMrsPotter and hugs to everyone who needs them this week, I know I do, so maybe passing some off proactively will help others and send some good ju-ju my way. *Sigh*

AFM: My hysteroscopy earlier today was a bit of a mess. First off, I asked if I could take something because my previous hysteroscopy was so painful and they green-lighted a Norco (left over from my miscarriage) so long as I had someone drive me, which I did, so I took it 30 minutes before my appointment... but I hadn't ate much prior to all this because I was so nervous. Well, that turned out bad. After sitting in the operating room for 40 minutes, alone, with no updates from anyone on when the doctor would be in, I started to feel light headed so I put on my pants and went out to ask if they had forgotten about me and then proceeded to pass out. I came to my senses on a gurney surrounded by the nurse staff, taking my vitals. Awesome. Thankfully my DH arrived precisely at that moment (he had to work out of town this morning and came straight there after) so they brought him back and he sat with me while I drank a juice box, ate some crackers, and they monitored my vitals until everything was normal again. I felt like an idiot and even more stressed about things in general. Well, about 30 minutes after all this my RE finally comes back to get me for the procedure. She never even apologized for leaving me in the operating room for 40 minutes alone, just asked if I was feeling up to the hysteroscopy, which at that point, I just wanted to get it over and be done with it. Soooo (sorry this is so long) she does it and lo and behold there's retained tissue. I wanted to scream. Then she talks game plan: either come back in three months and do a repeat hysteroscopy, hoping it passes on its own OR come back next cycle, have an operative hysteroscopy where they put me under, and remove it. I feel so defeated ladies, both options suck. I feel like this is never going to end. Has anyone else dealt with retained tissue? Is this something I could ask about on the main board without upsetting anyone?

QOTW: Generally speaking public speaking is not my favorite, but I've gotten better at it over the years.

  • I'd like to join you ladies, this will be my first check-in. Just to give some backround, DH and I were friends in highschool and became more shortly after. In 2011 we got married and from there began NTNP. After 2 years of that, we decided to actively try. We were at the 1 year mark of actively trying in February this year. We decided it was time to go see the doc. Hubby was scheduled for an SA and I was to be scheduled for an HSG after my next period. Low and behold, I never got another period because I was pregnant. I was due November 2. When we went to the first u/s the baby only measured 6w4d with no heartbeat. The doc continued to monitor my levels and I had a following u/s with no improvement.I opted for a D&C the next day.
So here I am on the bench for one more cycle and then we will be clear to try again.

  • Thanks for the check in HMP!

mara005 - I see you are 7DPO! When do you plan to test? I've got everything crossed.

I'm actually 8 dpo but I decided to stop temping (because it makes me crazy!) so on my chart it looks like I'm 7. Testing plans, hmm... I usually avoid tests like the plague! I'm foolishly getting my hopes up this cycle, but I still probably won't test until Sunday or Monday.

QOTW: While I do love being the center of attention ;) I'm not a big fan of public speaking, I get very nervous especially reading a loud.

  • Thanks for the check in @heymrspotter. Hope you're doing ok!

I had a huge hcg drop last week. Down to 115 from about 1400. I'm taking the week off again, so that hopefully my next draw will be it.

    @kvillano82   and @mara005- Fingers crossed!
@tlc35 - hope you get some clarity soon!
@RedheadRunning - hoping that hug bounces off of me and wraps you right back up. I'm sorry to hear things did not go so smoothly. I think that question is fine for the main board.Thinking of you, love.
@LittleMrsW - Welcome. So sorry that you've got to join us.

  • @kvillano82, I understand about not testing. FX for you.

@tlc35, I'm really not sure if you've O-ed either. I suppose it's possible you just missed your surge, but combined with the lack of a positive OPK right now, those temps don't look super convincing right now. Unfortunately, all you can do is wait and see. ((HUGS))

@RedheadRunning, I'm so sorry you went through that yesterday only to find out there was retained tissue after all. Not to mention that your RE was so inattentive. I know none of the options you have been given are what you wanted to hear, and I'm so sorry you find yourself in this situation. Loss is painful enough, but having these kinds of complications afterward is beyond unfair. ((HUGS)). I've never dealt with retained tissue, but it certainly would be fine to ask on the main board.

@LittleMrsW, I'm very sorry for your loss. ((HUGS)) and welcome to our check-in.

@mara005, I agree -- although testing helps some people feel less crazy, it doesn't work that way for  me either. I like your idea of not temping at this point, too. FX for you!

@littlecookie, great news about those dropping betas. Hooray!

My update: AF finally arrived last week, so thankfully my crappy, long, cyst-ridden cycle is over. I am not doing IUI this cycle because we'll be on vacation during my FW.

QOTW: I sometimes do public speaking as part of my job. I don't mind it if I feel well prepared. But if I feel at all unsure about my topic, or if there are last-minute changes, it's much harder. I actually taught a college course in public speaking for a semester. The rule of thumb we gave students was that they should rehearse their speech at least one time for each minute that their presentation is is expected to last. So, practice at least 5 times for a five minute speech. But I admit that I'm never actually that thorough myself.

  • @katydid2014, It sucks that you maybe paid more than necessary in the past, but I'm glad you'll get to save going forward. It's not small thing to pay for those meds.

Can I ask what pharmacy it is? I'd be interested in looking at their prices. The protocol I'm using is much like yours. I've been using Mendell's based on my RE's recommendation, but he's willing to work with any pharmacy I prefer.

Dental stuff is never fun either. I hope you get the answers you need quickly regarding the gum surgery, and that the procedure goes as smoothly and painlessly as possible.
  • @sarcaztic10‌ yay yay yay on the house. Congrats!

@HMR11913‌ before my first loss, my temps always dropped cd1. After my loss though, my temps typically stayed up a few days after cd1. So now I think it can vary when your temp goes back down. If you don't get a bfp this cycle, you could see what happens and maybe take a guess at what your body is doing temp wise during your lp.

  • I think most people end up testing before they expect their period now. My first bfp I thought we had completely blown the cycle, so I wasn't anxious at all and didn't test early. I figured it was positive when my temp stayed up the day I expected my period. So it's definitely possible to have an idea based on temp if you're patient :) it's a good question. I love how much I've learned about my body since starting to temp.

@sarcaztic10, your house news is absolutely the best thing I've heard all day. So happy for you! Congrats on both selling the IL house AND finding the perfect new place. [edited smiley fail]

@Katydid2014, I'm glad to hear your IUI won't be impacted by the dental surgery. I will check with Apothecary by Design for pricing before my next treatment cycle. My meds are pretty much the same as yours, but at higher doses for the Letrozole and Follistim. By the way, I don't know if you have a Costco near you, but if so, did you know that Letrozole is on their list of $6 prescriptions? You don't have to be a member to use the pharmacy, either.

@HMR11013, From what I recall of the FF tutorials, there can be a pattern after O that shows a succession of three temp shifts, and this can happen more often with pregnant women as their progesterone increases. More info here: https://www.fertilityfriend.com/Faqs/Triphasic-chart.html. And like @littlecookie, I do find that a temp drop below CL means AF is coming for me. In general though, looking at your temps isn't a great way to try to predict whether you are KTFU. I know it's very hard, but try not to read too much into individual daily temps -- it's crazy making. All that said, my fingers are crossed tight for you!

Good Morning @HeyMrsPotter! I’m glad to hear that AF finally made her appearance after a rough time. Where are you going on vacation again?

Hi @HeyMrsPotter‌ ! Thanks for the check in! Good luck this cycle...vacation on FW..sounds promising!
@LesliW, Well, this isn't the first time your chart has left me scratching my head. Do you think your CH's from last cycle ended up in the right place? Either way, I'm very sorry AF arrived ((HUGS)).
I am guessing I really did O on CD11, my LP is 15 days, so makes sense. There's been heat waves, wildfires, then cold snaps, so we've had fans and blankets...temps were pretty all over the place. This cycle seems the same. Contemplating vaginal temping but idk...getting so discouraged. I'm 41 and just don't think it's going to happen for us again.
Have a great week ladies!! Hugs to all!

@HeyMrsPotter, thanks for the check-in.  I want to respond to all of you, but have a busy work day ahead of me, so I don't know when I'll get the time.  {{hugs}} to all that need them!

This week has been a real struggle for me, see below but skip if you're having a bad day.

QOTW:  I hate public speaking but do it when I have to.
ETA QOTW, I always forget about that!

    ***Pregnancy mentioned, not mine****

My little brother called me on Sunday and announced that he and his wife are expecting a Christmas baby, their second.  I could tell he was nervous to tell me, but once he got it out he started talking about all the details and I could tell how excited he is, and why wouldn't he be?  I congratulated him and got off the phone as soon as I could even though he wanted to keep talking.  I did a reverse due date calculator and found out that they conceived around the same time that we announced that we were losing our baby.  That really stung, more so than the initial news that they were pregnant again.  I keep thinking about the fact that their baby was being created while ours was dying and that I'm going to have to watch my SIL's belly grow knowing that mine should have been growing and bigger than hers.

@kvillano82‌ Good luck tomorrow! FX for you!

@littlemrsw I'm so sorry for your loss. ((Hugs))

@littlecookie Great to hear that your betas are dropping!

@MrsKush2014 ((hugs))!! I know that has to be hard.

My experience with the Cytotec last weekend was pretty miserable. I took it Friday night and was awake most of the night with horrible cramps. I also bled very heavily at first. Soaked first pad in two hours then another pad in one hour. I almost passed out and the on-call Dr said to go to the ER if it happened again, but after that the bleeding lightened up. As miserable as it was, I think it was necessary and worth it to get everything out. As of today my bleeding seems to be tapering off to spotting. FX that my HcG is down to zero by next week's draw.

  • I'm a newbie to this group, and to posting in general, so hello there. Last night I posted for the first time on the TTC After 35 so for those who didn't see it, here's a recap:

.... When DH and I decided it was time we TTC and I had the doc remove my IUD (best 7 years of my life!). After removal, since I hadn't had a true period in 10 or so years, I immediately started with the OPKs to get a better understanding of my body and how it was working.... 3rd time IS a charm because I got pregnant! Many of my friends had to send pics of their tests out to see if anyone thought there was a true second line present. I didn't have to: it was an evening pee and that second line appeared right away. I had 3 positive home tests and a positive at the doctor's office. Since I just had my annual in Nov, he did a quick check and my uterus was softening. I returned in two weeks for my first U/S. Long story short, I was at exactly 8w but only measuring 6w4d. Since my symptoms were strong, I was advised to take it easy and call if I had any cramping or spotting and had a followup U/S scheduled in another two weeks. I was cautiously optimistic - my symptoms did not fade one iota and there was no cramping or spotting. DH and I went to that appointment heads held high, just to leave the room in tears. Sometime in-between my two U/Ss I had a MMC, yet the sac continued to grow. Just a few days later I had a D&C.

November is also my birthday month and this would've been the best gift ever.

As for public speaking: I love it - I can talk the paint off a wall  =)

  • Hi again! I checked in here a while ago, but haven't been back. I spent a lot of time processing my MMC...Ignoring the whole thing; trying not to break down when I saw a pregnant woman at Trader Joes; wondering if I did something wrong. It stinks when the emotions flare up, but I'm glad I've come back here. I got my period yesterday, 5 weeks post D&C. I have never in my life been so happy to start my period! :) I'm glad my body is getting back to normal.
