Traditional Chinese Medicine

So...just curious.  Has anyone gone to see a TCM?  What was the experience like?  
I ended up canceling my doctor's appointment ... really wasn't in the mood to go through tests and get my blood drawn (yuck) and honestly, I already had the TransVag U/S and everything looks normal.  Maybe there are some things that are better treated with TCM...dunno.

    I'm doing acupuncture, which generally draws heavily on TCM, and am taking some Chinese herbs prescribed by the acupuncturist.  I think a lot of ladies here are doing something similar.  I'm definitely doing it as a supplement to care from an OB/RE, though, not a substitute, so I'm not sure how helpful I can be...

    There's a longish thread about acupuncture on here somewhere if that's part of what you're considering.

    October 2014: IUI #3.  More Follistim + More Ganirelix + Pregnyl + Crinone.  4 follicles--BFP!  Beta #1=10 Beta #2=33 Beta #3=97 Beta #4=158.  M/C 11/1/14
    December 2014: IVF #1.  Microdose Lupron protocol.  9R, 9M, 9F.  3 5-day blasts transferred 12/15. BFFN.
    April 2015: IVF #2.  Microdose Lupron protocol.  16R, 15M, 12F. Transferred 2 5-day blasts 4/12 and froze 4--BFP!  M/C 5/25/15
    August 2015: IVF #3.  14R, 13M, 11F.  Froze 5 blasts for CCS testing.  3 normals.  FET planned for 10/2015.

    I did acupuncture and Chinese herbs starting in February. I got my BFP on April 20th! I truly believe it would not have happened so fast without it. I strongly encourage it. Also, from the research I did before it is beneficial to start 3 months prior to fertility treatments which we would have pursued after 6 months of trying. In my case, the money we spent on acupuncture would be well worth it if it could help instead of paying for fertility treatments. Fortunately it worked! The first time I went to her she said it would take less than 10 treatments to get pregnant because I didn't have any known fertility issues even though I'm 38. I thought she was crazy. Turns out she wasn't crazy, she was right! Can you tell I feel strongly about this?

    I do, but as a complement to my RE. My TCM doctor is a actually a complementary med doctor, so she works in conjunction with my western doctors. Both times I've gotten pregnant have been while under her care, despite the fact that I've had more time under just the care of a western doctor. She provides acupuncture (both fertility and for other concerns), herbs (all of which my RE knows about) and recommends dietary adjustments to respond to specific problems. My OB says she 'can't discount a thousand years' and my RE says 'as a western doctor based on western research I can't advise you to see a TCM for fertility, but if you're already going for arthritis or headaches or something, it certainly can't hurt to tell her you're trying to get pregnant, too.'

    I would really encourage you to see a doctor of complementary medicine and have them do an evaluation.  Chinese medicine is an entirely different mindset, and I wouldn't try to sort it out on my own.

    I agree with all the responses above. Before I started seeing my acupuncturist, I purchased a 30-day natural fertility cleanse to detoxify the liver and prep my uterus. I showed the herbal supplements and tea to my acupuncturist and she totally approved of the ingredients.

    TTC#1 since June 2012

    Dx: Unexplained Infertility / AMA

    BFP after 4th IUI cycle with Gonal F + Ovidrel on March 2014 | EDD 12/7/14 | MMC on 4/14/14 

    IUI#5 with Gonal F and Ovidrel trigger on 6/6 - BFN

    On to IVF #1 with a new RE. Started Gonal F and Menopur on 8/15.  Added Ganirelix on 8/24. Trigger on 8/26 for ER on 8/28. 8R 7M 3F.  Transferred all 3 on 8/31. BFP on 9/11 | EDD 5/20/15 - Beta #1: 56.7. Beta #2: 97. Beta #3: 1148. Beta #4: 3559. Beta #4: 7678. MMC confirmed on 10/13. D&C on 10/14 at 9w. Confirmed male with Trisomy 14.

    On to IVF #2 in March. CCS Testing on 2 embies. No go. Waiting to start IVF #3 in July. Surprise BFP on 6/14! EDD - 2/20/16 - Beta #1: 121.4. Beta #2: 236.4. Beta #3: 2014.
