Pregnancy Pillow to buy or not to buy.....?

So before being prego i was a side sleeper now that i am 29 weeks i keep waking up on my back which they say is not good? I have tried to put a pillow behind my back so if i do go on my back i am kinda on my side but it seems to be hurting me more. Any thoughts on the pregnancy pillows and if they made a big difference ?

  • I have one and it's a life-saver. Long enough to put between my legs when lying on my side and also have arms over at the top, while supporting my bump. Highly recommend!

I wake up on my back too. Your body will let you know when you need to switch positions. I wake up and roll over. It's fine.
Optimal is on your side, but your body will let you know.

  • I love mine. It helps me sleep better, I still don't sleep through the night, but I get a couple of solid hours in there.

  • I was anti pregnancy pillow. Only because I didn't feel it was necessary and didn't want to spend the money on it to use for only a few more months. I was just using pillows and figured that was good enough. I was gifted one (Snoogle) on Mother's Day and let me tell you….I was so wrong! I wish I had got one sooner. Worth every penny if you ask me!

  • I'm a back sleeper. It's been difficult to sleep on my side so my MP got me a tempurpedic body pillow to encourage me to side sleep. I still wake up on my back sometimes but at least I can fall comfortably asleep on my side.
  • Which pillow should i get girls ???

  • I have one (Boppy's that's like 3 pieces).  I have a love/hate relationship with that thing.  Honestly, if my local Target had the Snoogie, I'd have gotten it.  All they had was the Boppy one though, so that's what I got (gift card purchase).

I think I'm still going to invest in a wedge pillow for my upper body, because I swear I suffocate all night long no matter how I'm positioned.

  • I bought one and returned it after a few days. I woke up with sore body and stiff neck! I sleep with 2 pillows now, one between my legs. I find it comfortable (as comfortable as we can get anyway) and it saved me $55.
  • I'm also a side-sleeper normally, and by some miracle I haven't really had a problem yet with getting comfortable enough to sleep.  At this point, if that does end up happening, I'll probably just use extra regular pillows if I need more support.

  • I have a snoogle and I love it!!! My husband jokes and says are you going to continue and use that even after the baby comes......I just might! :)
  • I use the Bump Nest Pillow. I love it. It is soo comfy and really long and wraps around at the bottom. I'm really short so my dog actually sleeps in that part. She is obsessed with it. But it's helpful for my sciatica, keeping my bad leg propped.

  • I asked for and got a Snoogle for my birthday this year - I was all of 7 weeks pregnant. I love it, but didn't realize how much until we went away for Memorial Day weekend and I was miserable trying to sleep without it. It didn't make that much of a difference until I had a real belly to support, but now that I do, it's essential to getting comfortable. I've always been a side sleeper, FWIW.

I don't have one and have mostly been ok. But I also don't worry that much about sleeping on my back some of the time. The latest research about back sleeping is inconclusive so when I get uncomfortable I move, but I don't panic about being on my back part of the time.
  • I had to get one way back in first tri becuase of back pain and it has been litterally by my side ever since! I thought it was going to be a waste of money, but it has been so worth it. I still have about three other pillows handy for extra neck support, unded my belly or between my legs, which ever seems to be hurting the most that day, but I highly recomend it!
  • I got one with DD and it helped with the rolling over issues. I haven't used it this time bc I am still sleeping on my stomach so I don't need it.

  • I'm a back sleeper too. I had to force myself to learn how to sleep on my sides. The thing is, a pregnancy pillow would never work for me. My husband and I both toss and turn A LOT, and I get really hot at night and tear the sheets and blankets off, sometimes even my pajamas. I get irritated when anything is touching my legs. So I've fallen asleep with a pillow between my knees, only to wake up in the morning with the pillow thrown across the room! I'll see how it goes over the next 10 weeks, but I don't anticipate getting one.

  • I have a preggle which is nice in a queen size bed, still enough room for hubby and so comfy. I'd definitely invest again!
  • I got a Leachco a couple of months ago.  I really hated to spend that kind of money on a PILLOW, but I was having terrible SI pain and I would spend the money again in a heartbeat.
  • Same as @bkroxfan003‌ here-wish I'd opted for a different pillow. I was exclusively a left side sleeper pre-pregnancy. The hip pain caused me to wake up on my back so I splurged on the Snoogle to stop me from rolling. Unfortunately, it didn't prevent the rolling and instead I woke up on my back with a pillow crunched unevenly under me. 2 night of Snoogle and severe back pain later, (far worse than the original hip pain), my dog scored a new $55 pillow.

  • I tried a body pillow with my last pregnancy. I finally got a snoogle for this pregnancy and it's been amazing. I have a queen size bed and make it work. DH says it Helps keep me on my own side of the bed lol. I wish I would have had it for my other two pregnancies.

I have a king sized pillow that I sleep with between my legs for hip pain, seems to work fine for now
  • I have never used one. I don't really have any trouble sleeping though.

  • I just got the 3 piece boppy pillow and I love it. I was against spending the money, but after experimenting with several different pillow and different kinds of pillow and positions, this pillow was a lifesaver. I like that it comes apart in 3 different sections because then I can bring a piece with me to the couch for TV watching or I can move it around the positioning of them to suit whats hurting that day lol It sucks to spend $60 on a pillow, but definately money well spent!
  • I lerve my snoogle.  I was having hip pain and numbness by about 20 weeks...now no pain at all. I didn't use it one night this week and was really uncomfortable/sore.

It was well worth the money to have 3-4 hours of slumber at a time.
