So I recently drank the kool aid and got a FitBit. I also joined MyFitnessPal. I'm still playing with it and learning the ropes. I've linked my FitBit to MyFitnessPal and am tracking my foods in MyFitnessPal.
I'm debating if I should include my BFing into MyFitnessPal. I see that you can add it under foods and it gives you calories back. The thing is ... it't not like DD's BFing like a newborn! We're down to 2-3 sessions a day, usually 3 sessions. But I am trying to cut it down to 2. Each session is about 10 minutes (sometimes more or less depending). She's not EBF - she's drinking milk at meals.
I read that you burn ~20 calories per oz. But I have NO IDEA how much she's getting from me. Two of the BF sessions are very close together - when I get home from work at 6:00 and then at bedtime at 7:30ish. So I doubt she's getting muach at bedtime.
If I had to guess how many oz shes getting from me total in a day, maybe 4-5 oz? Who knows, maybe its more? I'm debating if its "worth" adding 100 calories a day in MFP for Bfing? Espchally since I'm hoping to cut out the session when I get home from work.
Part of me wants to add it in, so I can eat more! LOL! I'm always hungry! But maybe it's because I'm a piggie! LOL! But seriously, isn't it best to track EVERYTHING? If so, should I track each session individually or just a lump sum for the day?
But then another part of me thinks I should just omit it, since its probably so few calories.

At 20-week anatomy scan found IUGR (Intrauterine Growth Restriction), and very low Amniotic Fluid. Now, I'm High Risk and have weekly ultrasounds to monitor fluid and growth. If baby runs out of room or is too growth restricted, they will deliver ASAP. My current goal is to make it to 28 weeks!
Re: MyFitnessPal & FitBit - Should I take into account BFing?
Good luck!
Thanks ladies! I was thinking the same thing. I'd hate to over estimate how many calories I'm burning BFing, and then use that as an excuse to eat more!
I just started tracking with MyFitnessPal and have gone over my calories every day that I've tracked (only tracked like 3 days out of the past 7 days). But it's giving me something to work with and letting me see where I can make changes!
