Second/thrd time moms with different sex

I'm just curious is you are carrying/carried the same and had the same gain. I gained under 20 with both boys and carried basketballs. i was a walking wives tale regarding mostly everything with them, lol. This one, well definitely gaining at the same pace (exactly), but feel huge! Haha, I feel like its going to my butt this time :) I really don't care and as long as its a similiar gain I will be ecstatic, but just curious if there were differences in carrying different sexes.

Re: Second/thrd time moms with different sex

  • I carried the same with my previous two (DS & DD) and am the same with this one (girl) (big basketball in front).  I gained less weight with DD than with DS.  This time around, I am gaining weight more quickly, and my bump is definitely bigger earlier.  For me, I don't think it's a boy/girl thing, I think it's more related to it being the third time around. The only difference I have noticed between my boy pregnancy and my girl pregnancies was the amount of morning sickness - it was definitely worse with the girls than with my son.

  • Yeah, I've gained more weight sooner and am definitely bigger earlier than I was with DD, but I also attribute that more to this being my second than the fact that this one is a boy.  But who knows.

The biggest difference I've noticed is that with DD, my skin was awful and I had acne, but my skin has stayed normal this time (thank God).

  • Can I respond? Im having another girl but I carried so high with my first but this little girl is allllllllll the way down as far as she can get.
  • I carried the same with DS and DD and now the same again with another DD. Big old basketball style ;)

  • I am very overweight for both pregnancies. Even still with ds it was much more round ball in the front and so far with this pregnancy(girl) I am much more "spread" like my belly just looks wider. Gained more weight last time at this point. Skin and hair are way worse this time. As was m/ s. I've followed a lot of the old wives tales with both of my pregnancies.

  • I've carried exactly the same with all three (two girls, now a boy).  I'm somewhat tall with a long torso so I gain and carry all over.

Funny thing is I've gained significantly less weight this time (12 lbs total, I believe I'm on track for up to a 30 lb gain).  With my girls, I gained 50 lb each, spread pretty evenly through the pregnancy!  I have also been much much sicker with my boy :( and have a little acne which is very unusual for me.

  • With DS I gained 24lbs and it was all belly & boobs. I'm right on track with my first pregnancy & I look exactly the same. Hopefully it stays that way.
  • I haven't noticed much difference in the way I'm carrying baby girl. I may have gained a little more weight at this point than I had with DS1 or DS2, but I think maybe pregnancy #3 in a short amount of time is contributing to seeming bigger.

  • So far it seems like there is no correlation between "how you carry" and the sex.

This is our second child, a DD. We have a DS. With DS, I gained close to 50 lbs, was super bloated and got wide. Now, I've lost weight (at 20 weeks still hadn't gained anything) and am carrying much lower than I did previously.

The carrying high or low vs. sex isn't always true. It also has to do with muscle tone after having a child.

  • I'm carrying this baby the same way than I did DS. I have actually gained more with her however but because I started at a lower weight, I still haven't caught up to the weight I was with DS at this point. I feel so much bigger than I did with him though!

  • With DD I carried high, gained steadily and had no morning sickness. My bump was fairly pointed? Like more bullet shaped than a basketball.

This time, a boy, Im carrying low, actually lost weight and I had morning sickness every day, all day for three or four weeks. And my bump is more round, more like a basketball.
