Sucking/chewing on blanket

My DD (16 months) has been sucking/chewing on her blanket. She mostly does it when she is tired or is going to sleep. I give her a new blanket everyday so it doesn't get too gunky/gross/germy. She doesn't take a pacifier or bottle. I'm sure it's just a comfort thing but was just curious if any other Mama's are/have experienced this?

    DS did this for awhile when he was smaller - around 10 months, but then grew out of it.  He would only do it when he was tired or just waking up.

    I did this until I was 9 or so, DS does it now. I remember feeling comforted. If I didn't have something like the corner of my blanker or corner of my pillow, I'd suck on my fingers. My mom hated it and did everything to get me to stop, I just had to grow out if it. I don't have any strange psychological or developmental issues either. I'd do it more if I was stressed, ie divorced parents arguing.

    I was volunteering in DSs class and noticed several kids doing this to their clothes or hair. He goes to a Montessori and has kids 1-3 grade in his glass.

    Yes DD is 18 mos and chews on a small stuffed animal before falling asleep. I see no harm in this and I wash it every few days. I'd prefer this over a paci anyway which she's never taken.

    My DS sucks/chews on a small stuffed animal.  It is a little yucky but we wash it every few days.  I don't think it's anything to worry about.  Babies are very oral for a long time.

    My kid does that too. Except there is only one acceptable "Lankie" . He does it when he is tired or not feeling well.

    Oh yeah, LO is a total blankie sucker. Never really took a paci, but loves his blankie. Fortunately, he's not crazy attached to it and doesn't need it 24-7, but when he's upset or it's bedtime, he's all over that thing. We have 4 identical blankies so I can wash them regularly.

    DS1 started doing this around a year and a half or so. He is 4 now, and he still has his blankie, and he still chews on it. When I am washing "the" blankie and have to give him a replacement for the night, he flips that it's not "the" blankie and says that he can't chew on "this one."

    I wash it frequently. Otherwise, I just figure it's something that he will grow out of eventually.

    DD has been doing this since I let her start having an A&A blanket in her crib at night, at around 11 months. She's 14 months now and still doing it. Luckily we've got a ton of them so she gets a new one every night or two.
