Eating too much and vomiting?

After a huge dinner last night, we gave LO a bath, we read him a book, and I nursed him before bed.  As I was switching to feed LO from the other boob, he vomited a lot.  After about a minute of that fun, we re-did bath time, I nursed him again, and then put him to bed.  No fever, no extra fussiness, just a pretty normal evening apart from the large amount of baby (toddler?) vomit.

This has happened once before, and the only connection between the two times I can think of is that both meals had chicken (but he's had chicken without incident previously), and both times he ate more than usual (he's normally a relatively light eater in the evenings), and then nursed a bunch.  Do you think it's possible he just ate too much and then threw up as a result?

He was acting totally normal this morning, and ate breakfast/nursed as usual.  (He also very nearly STTN (8:30-4!!), which is unusual in and of itself).  I don't feel like it's worth a call to the pediatrician, and I sent him to daycare today based on the big lot of nothing it turned out to be last time this happened (FFTC?).

Thoughts?  Have any of your LO's eaten too much and vomited?

  • Ds2 does it all of the time. After big dinners it's pretty much guaranteed he will do it. My husband always says we needs to limit his food but he freaks out if we withhold food from him. The kid loves to eat.

  • Colton has done this 3 times so far. He throws up while still eating at the dinner table. Thank god we use the hard bib from babybjorn because it does a good job containing all his vomit. It happens on days he eats waaay more than usual; it's usually because he likes something and I give him too much of it. Last two times were homemade pizza. I try to keep an eye on it to make sure he doesn't eat too much. but even when it happens, we did not notice any lasting ill effects.

  • Happened once over here, my husband and I were both feeding him from a bunch of things he had brought home from the restaurant. We were weren't really paying attention to how much he was eating overall.

  • Yep.  B has done this at least once, maybe twice.  There seems to be a fine line between feeding B enough so he sleeps through the night and too much which = vomit.  Most nights we err on the side of feeding not enough because I hate when he throws up.
