Monday Morning Vents

My short term assignment ended and I'm back in my old office, just catching up on things. Happy to be back, so no vents from me - but vent away!

  • I'm not very venty, just a little sore from skipping yoga this morning and only doing 20 minutes yesterday. I need some of those office-appropriate yoga pants so I can do some sun salutations in my cube ;)

  • I'm exhausted today. We had a super busy (fun) weekend but I need a nap so bad. I was going to take a nap yesterday while DS was napping, but DD flushed a bunch of baby wipes down the toilet and clogged it and overflowed it, so I spent naptime mopping up the bathroom.

  • DH and I had a huge fight this weekend.  We both feel strongly that the other is very, very wrong.  Neither of us can see things from the other person's perspective.  I tried talking it out with him, but his responses are very juvenile and snarky, which makes me want to give up trying to resolve it.

We are trying to act normal, especially around the kids. I'm not angry with him anymore (though not sure if he's angry with me), but this issue is not going away.

The whole thing is making me sad.

On the plus side, the weather is fantastic, and I had an easy ride to work today.  I'm hoping the ride home is as nice.
  • I'm tired of inconsiderate people.  It's been a bunch of little things, like my bro and SIL loading up their plates and their 2 kid's plates at my parents' yesterday, so by the time the grilled hamburgers and hotdogs got to DS and me, all the hamburgers were gone.  My dad felt bad and gave DS part of his hamburger.  What made it worse is I watched my mom throw away 2 almost full hamburgers after dinner.

    STUCK IN THE BOX

My sister is like this.  It's extremely frustrating.  And everyone just takes it.

My latest disagreement with her is as follows:  My dad, after years of working at least one job, but always 60-70 hours a week, retired.  He did not want a party, just dinner with immediate family.  Sisters and mom and I discussed it, settled on a date and location.  I booked a private room, reconfirmed date and location with sisters and mom - everyone agreed.

Sister backed out because she cannot POSSIBLY make it, what with all of the BASEBALL GAMES and LACROSSE GAMES and SOCCER GAMES her kids have.  WTAF?  This man worked himself into an early grave, at jobs that he HATED, to send us all to private school and $$$ universities, and lil' nephew can't miss a f-ing BASEBALL GAME?

And to make matters worse, she will NOT commit to an alternative date.  She is simply ignoring communications from me, and told our other sister that she doesn't know when she'll be able to do it.

So other sister, mom, and I are taking him out, but I'm really sad because it's not what he truly wants.  He wants us all together.  Oh, and I'm totally the bad guy for calling her on her bullsh!t.

    Sometimes, people are just @$$holes.

  • I'm on maternity leave now. I got the bill for L&D last week and realized that I hadn't gotten an EOB from insurance and my hospital bill included an "uninsured discount." So I called the hospital to find out why they hadn't billed insurance. They needed a form signed from me, which they had forgotten to get when I was at the hospital. They sent the form to me right after discharge and I returned it right away, but I guess it got lost. Still haven't gotten the new form, so I called again today. They said the sent the new form on Thursday and I should get it any day now. . . I called last Tuesday, so I kind of expected a faster turnaround.

This same hospital once billed someone else with the same name as my husband for some labs my husband had done. I am in no way confident that they can straighten out the billing and insurance without me harassing them once a week.

  • And a far more important vent- I have the flipping Thomas and Friends theme song stuck in my head. I swear they wrote that song to make parents go insane.

    They're two, they're four, they're six, they're eight. . .

This is so foreign to me. I don't know if it's a southern thing or what, but I have NEVER been to a cookout where multiple people were not almost overly concerned with everyone getting the food they want/need, and nobody going hungry. It's like an obsession you encounter every time there's a gathering that involves food. There's always someone asking someone, "Did you get enough to eat?" Your SIL and bro sound like assholes :/

Oh, hellz no.  I'd be turning everything into a PDF before I handed it over (with my name all over it), but I'm passive-aggressive like that.  :P
Or at least email it to myself so I have documentation of when the file was actually created, and by whom. Eff credit-stealing bastards. Hayell no.

  • My vent for the day - I'm 10 weeks pregnant and bloodwork came back last week that I have hyperhtyroidism. My OB sent me to my primary care doctor who drew more blood, said my numbers were very bad, but my case didn't make sense as I had few other symptoms, and referred me to an endocrinologist.  Can't see the endocrinologist until Tuesday and have been dealing with heat rash Saturday and all day today, even though I'm wearing a thin shirt and knee-length skirt in a 73 degree office with the lights off and a fan going.

There are two medicines that I could take, but they are both Class D, so not ideal, but better than the alternative (note - it's hard to get miscarriage and stillbirth out of your head as potential complications when the doc says that worrying is warranted).  I'm trying to not tell everyone at work about the pregnancy, but they are starting to think I'm going insane with medical issues.  And I really just want answers as to everything.  Sigh.  About 20 more hours to go until my appointment.

  • Tomorrow @beaubecca!  I got referred on Thursday and my primary said he would try to find someone that day or the next.  This endo isn't even open on Fridays and the only thing she said on Thursday was that they are scheduling for October.  Unreal!  (here's a thought - maybe work 5 days a week!)

So I kept calling the endo and my primary and they got me in for tomorrow, which is a longer wait than I would prefer, but my list of questions keeps getting longer so it'll be better for me and worse for them to get everything answered.  I'm primarily worred about going until essentially 11 weeks without treatment and I'm concerned because symptoms are popping up every day.  I wonder if I really just want her to take it out and be done with it.

@Amelia4, I'm hypothyroid myself, but my SIL was diagnosed with Grave's Disease (hyperthyroid) and found out she was pregnant before they had a chance to do the radioactive iodine treatment (she later had it when my nephew was 15 months old). She had a high risk pregnancy and was monitored closely, but my nephew was born perfectly healthy at 40 weeks and is now a healthy 9 year old! I'm sure everything will turn out great for you too, but I'd be extremely frustrated about having to wait so long to see the endocrinologist. Could you possibly call and talk to the nurse about how anxious you are? The nurse may be able to 'find' an appointment for you. My husband recently had thyroid cancer and sees the same endocrinologist as I do. When I call to make an appointment for myself, I have to wait forever, but he is able to get an appointment within a day or two because his situation is more serious. He always talks to the nurse (instead of the receptionist) when he calls because they told him to specifically ask for the nurse. I'm willing to bet that they could get you in sooner than next week if you talk to the right person.

ETA: I just saw above that you have an appointment for tomorrow. Thank goodness! Good luck and keep us posted!

  • Thanks, all.  I spoke with my primary last night and he said he thinks everything will be fine.  Which is great because last week he said worrying was warranted.  He expects the endo to start me on PTU today.  Just a few more hours to go!
