My name is Melissa, from Milwaukee, WI and I am new here. I am 19 weeks and expecting my first Hubby and I are over the moon! We have our 20 week US next week and decided not to find out the sex of the baby. Some of our family is very supportive, others are really pushing us to find out! We are still doing what we want, but is anyone else waiting to be surprised?
Team Green here as well!! Go on Tuesdayfor my 20w u/s! Search Team Green and you'll find plenty of threads from us I just posted a check in a day or so ago! Hang in there!
I have to look up the team green threads - as I too am a team green gal. DH and I decided from the getgo we wanted to be surprised. We love surprises. We still hide all holiday presents in closets and ship stuff where the box would give it away to friends or family... I have a ton of friends pressuring me, but they ultimately understand. Though - I might say we're team yellow - as that's the color of the baby's room- a nice soft but bright yellow to lighten the room as it doesn't get as much light as I would like in the mornings - west facing window.
My A/S is next week too and I've already told the doc, we don't want to know - and will reiterate when we're there.
Oh hey, OP! I'm also from Milwaukee. Well, a suburb, but close enough. :-h
I think it's funny that your family is pushing you to find out. Mine did the opposite! I knew I couldn't possibly wait, so yesterday at my 16w u/s I was able to find out I'm having a boy. I'm so happy my baby is healthy and growing and everything looks good, but I won't lie and say I wasn't a tad bit disappointed I'm not Team Pink, since I had been envisioning this LO as a girl.
My mom told me I should've stayed Team Green. She said when you find out the sex early there's always the chance that a part of you or your spouse will be disappointed, but when you find out at birth, you're just so overwhelmed and happy and in awe of your new baby, disappointment never registers. She was Team Green with me and my brother, but opted to find out with my little sister and said she regretted finding out early at the time, because my dad was disappointed he wouldn't be getting a second son. If you can stay Team Green, more power to you! I'm just too curious a person to have waited myself.
Oh congrats! I really did want to find out at first, but after sometime, really settled on waiting! I keep envisioning our LO as a girl too, just can't help it! I think it will be great to wait; however I get a little frustrated with the planning! So far gender neutral is working for us lol

I'm so like you- super curious but my DH wants to wait, so figure for him I can hold out - as if I found out and he didn't I'd never be able to keep it a secret. Plus I do love surprises. What your mom said makes some sense to me. I am hoping for a boy and my DH a girl (talk about polar opposites to the usual ) and so if we find out in advance, chances are there would be some let down, but who knows.
We are team green too! We had our 20w u/s this morning (almost a week late so it would fit into both of our schedules) and our Dr. told the tech that she didn't want to know either! It was so easy not to see anything down there (baby had legs in breech position anyway like he/she was blocking it for us). I was so afraid I would see something, but we have no clue as to what baby is! I think it is awesome that our Dr. will be just as surprised as we will be!

That is cool that your doctor doesn't want to know either! I bet surprises for her in this area are few and far between. What a treat for all of you!
Same here. Married Sept 21 2013. I'm 18 weeks today. Hubby and I are waiting. Lots of mixed feelings from work, church, and family. We're staying strong and not letting anyone change our decision. Boy or girl were grateful and thankful. TTG >-
We are expecting our first and are Team Green, too! It is a very polarizing topic -- some people think it's great and others think we're crazy! There are too few surprises in life We had our A/S this past week, and the tech just told us to look away as she was determining the gender. We plan to do a nautical-themed nursery with light gray, white, and some navy. After the baby is born, we'll throw in either hot pink or light blue!
We are first time parents too, and went back and forth in the beginning. Now, we're firmly team green. Family and friends have varying opinions, but we're doing everything neutrals anyway because (universe willing) we plan to have more than one child. Do what make you comfortable; its your life! :-)
We are! We waited with our first baby too and it was very exciting. Even the L&D nurses were excited and all our family and friends waited with EXTRA anticipation! Plus, at our shower, we received everything that we needed opposed to the piles and piles of clothes you get when everyone knows the gender.
DH is very adamant about being team green, we found out with DS & DD. I want to wait, but I'd like to know too. A/S is Friday, it's going to be hard not to peak or try to figure it out LOL.
