Trouble TTC

trying to get pregnant but no luck

i am 26 almost 27 and my husband and i have been ttc for the last two years. when i was about 22 i was told i had cysts on both ovaries but no further test done. i then started to get my blood work done to see what was going on. my prolactin was high and doctors told me that could be why i am not getting pregnant. they put me on metformin since then my prolactin level has dropped in the normal range. after we got married and really started to try i finally went in for more testing. my husband sperm count was tested and everything was normal. after months of clomid and days of taking my temp nothing changed. i only ovulated 3 times off clomid and the rest nothing happened. i finally made up my mind to go to a fertility specialist which he told me that i have PCOS and i was type 2 diabetic. he told me i have 3 options. keep trying what i am trying, insemination or ivf. i have done 6 cycle of clomid and only 3 i have ovulated on but still no pregnancy. i have two more cycles before we move on the option 2.
i am getting to the point to where when i hear of a friend becoming pregnant with no trouble i get upset. seeing younger people with children makes me sad and i cant help but feel it will never happen to me.

Just wondering if anyone else out there is having a similar problem or has gotten pregnant after have these sorts of problems.

Re: trying to get pregnant but no luck

  • I also have PCOS, me and DH have been TTC since oct 2012. I just turned 30 in April, I totally understand about others getting pregnant. 26 is not old in the TTC years so I wouldnt worry about that. I am on my 2nd round of clomid with my first ever pos OPK (confirmed with Temping) There are a lot of women who get preg with PCOS. Its all based on individual cases. Waiting doesnt get any easier IMO honestly. I am now the last person in my family to not concieve (and I am the oldest). IF is just a crap shoot. You never know what each month is going to bring with PCOS.

  • i had an HSG done and my tubes were clear but i did have a small indent at the end of my right tube. when i went to see the specialist he told me my body my have become unresponsive to clomid so i did one cycle of Femara with an injection and then vaginal progestrone injection
  • I don't have specific advice about your treatment beyond what was already mentioned, but I can definitely empathize with feeling like it may never happen for you and the frustration that other people seem to get pregnant so easily. It does help me to remember there aren't a finite number of pregnancies in the world, so one woman's pregnancy isn't affecting yours. Additionally, a lot of people struggle with IF, so some of the "easy" pregnancies around you may not have come as easy as it seems.

Additionally, it helps me to go to the Pregnant After IF board and just look through siggies to see people's success stories. It might be nice to see people with the same diagnosis who have gotten pregnant and see the treatment journey they went on to get there.

    Also, welcome to the board!

  • I'm also 26 soon to be 27, 2 weeks ago I had a Lap done and endometriosis was found and removed. I was told by doctors that it was highly likely that I had endometriosis when I was 19, but they didn't follow up either. My new gyn, says that my tubes are clear, and that I am ovulating, but still nothing. Hang in there. Hugs.
