Possible ringworm? PIP

After our trip to the beach I noticed a spot of what I thought was dry skin. I thought it was a patch of excema so I've been putting aquaphor on it. Today it looks much more circular so I'm thinking it may be ringworm from her excessive drooling. I'm calling her pedi tomorrow but was interested in what you ladies thought. image

The picture makes it look much more red. In person it's more of her skin tone but slightly pink.

Re: Possible ringworm? PIP

  • I think it is ringworm as well.

  • Damn. I feel bad. It makes sense that it is the more I think about it. With the weather being warm for thing first time in her life and her excessive drooling. I try to keep bibs on her but sometimes I just wait until her shirt gets bad then change her. Other than that I have no idea how she'd get it.

  • @twolittlewheels‌ I've been trying to figure out what ITA means since you commented. I couldn't get past the fact that PITA means pain in the ass. So after I read it as "In the ass" I thought it was too funny to try to figure it out. Lol
  • Wow. Lmao. So obvious.
  • Haha. Is "I think also" even a sentence?

  • @starscream the ones next to her top ones have poked through as well. All the top ones came in at the same time. It was hell. Lol
  • My LO has ringworm and it looks like that. He has three patches. The dr gave us cream and it is slowly going away.
  • I thought ITA=I Tend to Agree. I totally agree works better, though.

  • Update: the doctor said it looked like it could be excema as well but because aquaphor didn't help at all she gave us an anti fungal cream. We shall see how this works.
  • Thanks for the update.  We have this as well (same exact spot) and my LO scratches it sometimes.  I've tried coconut oil and Neosporin and sometimes diaper cream at night.  It will go away a couple of days and back another.

Coming late to this, but my DS had spots like this on his chest and we also thought it was ringworm. Turns out it was eczema and Aquaphor never helped his flair ups. We ended up having to use a Rx Steroid to control his breakouts when he turned two.

We now use Eucerin lotion (in the tub) and it keeps his flair ups to a minimum. I defintiely recommend it for eczema.

  • Thanks ladies! I guess we shall see what happens as the doctor wasn't positive it was one or the other.

@Jackdmull2013‌ I also read that if it is ringworm, washing it with head and shoulders works as well.
  • Looks like eczema to me. I have had ringworm and have had eczema my whole life. Ringworm and eczema can look similar I mistreated my ringworm as eczema. Aquafor isn't going to cure eczema. With eczema it's important to keep skin hydrated but Aquafor isn't going to get rid of it. We just went to a derm today bc lo has a bad patch that has started to ooze and didn't respond to anti biotics. Turns out it's just eczema and he was given steroid cream. For his other little spots that look like yours he was given another script. I just dropped it off at the pharmacy so I can't tell you what it was at the moment but maybe it's something you need if the anti fungal doesn't clear it up. Also derm said that I need moisturize head to toe after every bath. I said I was using Aquafor and she said I should switch to hydrogenated petroleum bc Aquafor has lanolin in it and that stuff is basically whipped Vaseline.

off topic but I am jealous your baby has 4 teeth!

My kid has one. ONE. and that bad boy came in literally 10 days ago.
I am right there with you! Only one tooth for us too. The dr. said it looks like the top ones might beat the other bottom one.

@Tally879‌ glad you got the right things for LOs exzema. I hope it clears up soon!
Hopefully this stuff works because we are moving out of state in a week and I don't want to have to worry about serif another pedi as soon as we get there.
