Specifically, when this kid arrives, how many kids (under 18) will you have in your house (by birth, step, foster, adopted, whatever)?

  • This is exactly what I was going to say! 1 human baby and the two dogs... :-D and I recognize that they may not feel as much like our "children" then, but they will still need care!

  • 2 1/2 because we only have FI's daughter on the weekends :)

  • Dogs/cats/pigs/birds/andwhatthefuckelseyoumighthave are not LOs. Thanks.

  • I'm hoping this poll gets some more traction, because I'm genuinely intrigued that the number at 4+ is only at 4 votes right now.

  • I love my furbabies (two dogs and two cats) a lot! They do require daily care and attention.... get top quality food, vet visits every 6 months, grooming visits for the dogs, get put up in their own pet hotel when my family goes on a vacation they can't come along on, etc etc etc.

...but they are not LOs, sorry.
  • Totally want to count the hubby now!

Ouch! Step relationships are hard, but they take just as much love and effort as blood relationships. Kids see and absorb everything about how the key adults in their lives feel about them. I hope your step daughter doesn't internalize that she counts 1/2 less than the other two.

I'm pretty sure @alexisann4250 meant her FI's daughter as a full person that only lives under her roof part time....

You're probably right - but it didn't read that way to me @trombgirl. You're the Queen of benefit of the doubt, probably something I should work on

Not even going to go there.

  • Really surprised only four of us will have 4+ LOs. Are you ladies open to more, or is this it?

I want 3 or 4. DH wants to stop at 2 though. Boo.

My boss's wife shares my due date and is having #7.
  • DHs cousin just had number 7! I cannot imagine. I am still learning 3. Interested how 4 is going to shake things up. DHs wants a van full. He is crazy, I think.

This is it for us. We actually were OAD when we got pregnant with our little surprise. :-) My son has ASD and is extraordinarily difficult to parent. Since my husband's brother is on the spectrum, there is a decent possibility that it is genetic, and having a child on the spectrum gives us a 20% chance of having another. My son is high functioning, so I cannot imagine having another on the spectrum, especially one that is not as high functioning as my son. Once upon a time, I wanted at least 3 or 4 kids, but it just isn't for me anymore. I think my husband would be open to it, but he works a lot so the majority of the parenting/household responsibilities fall to me, so I'm making the choice. This one is most definitely our last.

DH and I both couldn't shake this feeling like we had a 4th child that needed (insert blank here), after our DD was born. There was this very odd sensation that a child was missing. This was our surprise and unless we feel remarkably different, will without a doubt be our last with DH going for a vastecomy.

  • This will be our 2nd. We're planning for three, and will probably start trying for the third around DD2's first b-day. DD1 and DD2 will be between 18-19 months apart.

  • This little boy will be our second boy. We plan on having one more. I would like 4, but H doesn't think so. (Financially) Maybe I can talk him into it later. ;)

  • I put two but I watch a little girl 10+ hours a day so she's basically here all the time when awake so it's really more like 3 since I treat her like my own
  • One step-daughter who is 9 and our little one :)

This is our first, and we plan to have more. DH just wants 2, but I'm open to 3. We'll see, though, how we feel after we have this one.

  • 3!

DD will be 4 (fingers crossed this LO doesn't share a bday with her - I have the same due date)

    DS will be 22 months

This will be our first!! But @aliciak316‌ - I feel you on the nanny front though. I'll still be watching the three boys I do now- so I will have 4 boys under my roof for about 11 hrs/ day but only one that stays! Lol

This won't be our last- we want at least four, God willing. We want to have the first two pretty close as well.
  • FTM here but DH and I would love to have 4 or 5 kids.

This is #3, and before we tried for this one, we both really had a similar feeling that our whole family wasn't here yet. I really feel like we all are now that I am pregnant, it feels complete. We'll see how we all feel a year or so down the road but I think this will be the last for us!
  • I am one of 4, and would love 4.  DH is content with the 3 that we will have.  We are also going to take the wait and see approach.
  • I wonder if ppl with more LOs just have less time for bump forums...
  • Really surprised only four of us will have 4+ LOs. Are you ladies open to more, or is this it?
This baby is #3, and we've always said we wanted at least 4. But we will see. DD1 and DD2 are only 15 mos apart, and at 2 and 3, they are still a LOT of work. I keep telling myself eventually they will not be quite so needy all the time, but we really just take it one at a time and see what feels right for our family.

  • #3 and last for us. DH was happy with just one, then felt that 2 was just right, and here we are with #3. No more after that. Having the surgery.

This is our first; I have severe allergies so we can't even have fur-babies. I've agreed to two LO's, as I was originally ZAD (Zero And Done), but here we are, four months left to go on #1 and DH is already talking about #3!

There was no SS option but we'll have 1 human baby abd 2 furbabies come September ;)
As someone who treated her dog like our child, I never listened to people when they said he would "become a dog" once we had kids.  They were SO right.  I still love my furby, but is in fact a pet now.  We take care of him and we spend time with him, but the relationship has changed.

Point is, while you feel like your furbabies are your children now, it will change... no matter how much you swear it won't.
This is so true unfortunately.  The same thing happened to me.

  • We will have 2 - this little guy and his big brother, DH's son who's with us part-time.

We're done after this LO - DH is getting a vasectomy. I would love to have another, but it doesn't make sense for us financially.
