Mother's milk tea upsetting LO's tummy?

I started mother's milk recently to help increase supply after my son took longer than expected to get to birth weight. Around the same time, little man started being gassy and seems to have a hard time getting comfortable. His stools have been more 'explosive' as well. Is it possible that the tea is upsetting his tummy? Anyone experienced this?

  • I read it can. Which is odd as it has fennel in it as fennel settles tummies.

  • I have no idea, but I am frustrated!
  • Have you tried eating oatmeal? It helps with supply.
  • I drank it for months with Beb. Never noticed a difference in her poop. That's not to say it's not the cause as everyone reacts differently to these things.
I say go without for a couple days and see if anything changes. You might just have an enthusiastic pooper on your hands. ;)

  • I think it has fenugreek in it. That always tore up ds1s stomach and mine when I used it with my first.

  • I ate a lot of oatmeal and only noticed lack of weight loss/weight gain.

It also could be that the only oatmeal was via cookies....

Breastfeeding is hard, y'all. I'm commited to it, but damn.
  • Is there another way to eat oatmeal?

I started on fenugreek yesterday, and today DS is wayyyy poopier and gassier than usual. I think it's from that so I'm probably going to stop it :(

  • I'm glad you posted this because I was wondering the same thing. I started drinking that thinking it would help one side produce more and that's when I started noticing that she became real gassy and cried a lot. Now that I've been off it she seems to be getting better. I kind of wondered if it was related to that or not.
