Babysitter rates

What would you pay sitter. My son has a fever and can't go back to daycare tomorrow so a sitter is coming to our house to watch him. What would you pay? Per hour or day rate?

I would do a flat rate for the day since this is a one time thing. If she/he was to become your regular sitter for date nights, etc then I would set an hourly rate.

ETA: If you mean the exact dollar amount that depends on how long your day is; hourly though sitters get around $12-15 here.

  • I agree. 10-15/hr is standard here, but I would just agree to pay maybe 75-100 since it is a one time thing (if it's for the full day). Previously I was paying our nanny a flat rate $250/wk plus lunch for 15-25 hours (usually ended up being around 18-20 hrs). Hope this helps!
