I know they say to get them used to day/night you should keep them in the light and the noise of the day. I was trying to keep her in the living room in order to do this. Now I'm thinking napping in crib is better. Thoughts?
DS naps on a blanket on the living room floor usually, otherwise he's in the bouncy seat in the living room. We have a 2 year old and 2 dogs and an open floor plan, so yes, he gets a lot of noise and light and toddler poking and sleeps right through. If we are out, I wear him in the baby carrier and he naps there.
She's never napped in her crib. The crib is for night time use only and she's starting to understand that. Naps are in the living room either in the swing, my arms, or on a blanket on the couch.
I can't see how old LO is, but my babies slept in the bouncy chair on the main floor until they were about a month old. By then, they had their days and nights corrected, and I started napping them in their beds.
LO is 3 weeks old. She does nap in living room while brung held, and in her swing or RnP. She just wasn't sleeping at all yesterday, so I thought it was too bright, but I do need her to sort out day/night. Last night she went down at 7 and slept until 930. Then ate and slept until 11. Hubby gave bottle but I had to nurse her to get her to sleep. She was then up from 230-330. Up at 5. Slept 5-7. So it seems like she was waking A LOT at night. Just trying to figure out how to get her to sleep more!
In the swing in a darkened bedroom. Sleep begets sleep. So good naps during the day (BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY) usually equal more sleep at night....regardless of day/night confusion.
Put the baby down for a nap every hour to hour and a half during the day. I know what you're thinking...you're thinking "But then she won't sleep at night!" But she will. She'll sleep better because by the time night rolls around, she won't be OVERTIRED. Sleep begets sleep. I was skeptical too, at first, but it works.
