Or maybe I should say tacky or super tacky? Sorry if that biases anyone's responses ;-)

Sharing LO's birthday wishlist on Facebook ... tacky or not? 105 votes
What are you talking about? It's a great way to share gift ideas with friends/family!
Eh. NMS, but I don't judge people that do.
Roll my eyes and move on ...
Tacky, tacky, with a side of tacky!

If someone wants to bring a gift to a party, that's great. It's not expected but wonderful. If you send a PRIVATE message or send an email or make a call to the parent and say, "So what kinds of things is your kid into these days? I want to buy a gift," then that's the appropriate time to give that kind of information. In any other situation TACKY TACKY TACKY.
I would private message those who asked. IMO, it comes across as greedy to publize that on Facebook.

True story, there's this girl on my FB who is throwing her own bridal shower with her FI. Everyone is invited, and she would love some help throwing it. She posted links to her amazon wish list and said if you couldn't come you could just send her a gift from there. Cash and gift cards are good too, though. On a side note, she's down to 118 lbs, so she's *almost* got her body back. ::barfs::
