Alimentum Mamas

does your LO have green poop from the formula?? at first we thought it was because we were adding prune juice to it but DD has been off of prune juice for a while and it's still green. she has a sensitive tummy and milk/soy allergy which is why she's on it but our pedi said we may have to switch to prescription still. is this a normal reaction others are seeing or should I call my pedi? I'm afraid to google!

Re: Alimentum Mamas

  • Yup! Greenish brown poo over here. LO is on Alimentum and a suspension of Prevacid. It covers a range of green to brown.

  • My LO is on Alimentum and has green poop too. If you are worried, call the pedi though.

  • @hashtagrainbow it's usually kinda thick but today she's had two big poops and they're a little thinner... I think that may be because she's teething, though. no blood or mucous but I still check every day like a crazy person because of her issues early on.

M's been off prune juice for about 4 weeks. she's on Zantac 3x's a day and was taking the prune juice 3x's a day, too. I took her off because she had a bad reaction to the rotavirus vaccine and the juice seemed to be making it worse. she still is really inconsistent with pooping but the green has always made me wonder. when I brought it up last time, my pedi didn't seem concerned because of the prune juice. I'll be sure to ask again, though. its nice to hear she's not the only one!

  • I recommend you give goats milk, do some research on it.. Its the closest milk to breast milk and very healthy. Some formulas mess up babies digestive system, they are man made not natural.

I don't think this is a good idea without checking with the doctor. Although I have heard that donkey milk is actually closest to human milk (not joking), I would never give it to my baby. Plus, I'm sure milking a donkey is hard.

  • This was a suggestion, and of course I knew people would criticize my opinion, no big deal very normal.
Yes consult your pedi first and just ask her if you should change formula or if you have other options.
My MIL is a pedi/mid-wife and has fed her 2 oldest sons with RAW goats milk and they are perfectly healthy in every way... Like I said before do some research before judging its just my opinion not forcing anyone to agree or to do so.
  • I am not gonna sit here and argue, this isn't just a experience my MIL did, she study for that you know and many many people were fed raw goats milk, where the goats were not gmo fed. Babies poop tells a lot since you know so much you already know that uhmm!
Give your babies formula if you want no problem with that, once again and I should repeat it one more time it was a suggestion and ask the pedi of course.

Formula is not an equal substitute for breastmilk but I am not against it do what you feel its better for your baby.
Respect others opinions you wouldn't appreciate me making fun or trying to bash what you posted just bcuz you dont agree with what I said, please.
  • This might get lost here now, but my LO's poop actually changed FROM greenish/yellowish/seedy TO a normal brown poop color after we switched to alimentum.  She had been pooping like at least 10x/day and now it's usually once or twice.  We switched because she had blood in her poop so the doctor determined it's a milk protein allergy.  If you are concerned or there has been a change, I would call.  I always feel it's better to be safe than sorry, and I'm sure the pedi would want you to call if you have any questions or concerns.

  • My LO's poop is dark greenish brown and she is on alimentum.

so I'm just seeing this now but get the eff out of here, @sscarolynedvx. don't tell me to "do some research" when you have no idea what my situation is. why would I give my daughter goats milk when she has a milk allergy? you clearly have no idea what Alimentum is or you wouldn't have even made that comment which makes me think that you maybe YOU should do some research and stop randomly posting on shit that you know nothing about. you're not my pediatrician, you know nothing about this situation, so don't give "advice".
