Allergies suck

Well, in addition to peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, milk, and oats, we just found out DD is allergic to dogs, cats, house dust, oak, and bluegrass. We're seeing the allergist tomorrow and I know some littles take Zyrtec or Claritin, so hopefully he can give us something. She's miserable--covered in eczema, red eyes, runny nose, itchy, and today she had hives on the backs of her knees (wtf?!).

I wish we could just test her for everything at once. She's had four blood draws and the last one was horrid. I'm done.

Anyway, I know we have a few littles with allergies. How's everyone doing?

Re: Allergies suck

  • Sorry to hear of more allergies! Maybe she will outgrow most of them. We have an appointment with an allergist on the 17th. It's been a long 6 month wait and I cannot wait to get DS tested. He already takes Singulair and Zrytec daily - one in the AM and the other before bed.

I had allergies as a kid but have outgrown most of them. I took shots weekly for years to control it. They did a skin test when I was little. They aren't doing that anymore?? A blood test has to be better than getting pricked a million times.

  • DD saw the allergist and had the prick test. Luckily it turned out allergic to nothing, but she was diagnosed with asthma.

  • @jjdillie It was the blood test that we've had, thank God. We've just done it four times. :-( I'm usually super chill, playing the strong mom role so DD won't freak out. Well, this last time she got poked four separate times an the first three they were wiggling around in there forever. I ended up crying because I was so hurt by DD crying. Ugh. This sucks. I hope you get some answers for your son. :-(

@chrissynena‌ I'm glad your DD is not allergic but sorry to hear about the asthma. Babies shouldn't be allowed to have friggin' asthma!
