NBR: ? For contact wearers

Just curious where you go for contacts...has anyone tried 1-800 contacts? What'd you think? I haven't ordered contacts in so long because I just don't feel like spending $200 on a 3 or 6 month supply. Was wondering if 800 contacts was cheaper than the ones you order at the eye doctors and if it is the same quality. Thanks!

    I haven't actually ordered from 1-800-Contacts but I have priced an order online and yes it was cheaper than ordering from my eye doctor. They should be exactly the same quality wise. You do need a current prescription that's less than a year old though so depending on how long "so long" is that could be a problem.

    What she said. I've always found them to be cheaper, and it's the exact same contacts as your doctors office. You have to have a current prescription to order. Good luck!

    I use Lensmart which is pretty much the same type of thing. They are cheaper and sell the name brands that your doctor's office does too.  Once you register with them, they (all these online companies) will send you discount codes regularly to buy more contacts so when you are ready to re-order you can wait for one of their emails and should be able to get an additional discount.

    I use 1800 contacts and they are much cheaper than my eye drs office. If you order a bunch they will give you some good rebates sometimes free shipping. I used to bring my script to Walmart but they never have them in stock which its super annoying and takes forever to order.

    I've used VisionDirect.com for the last several years. Prices are good and I've never had any issues with them. Exactly the same lenses as when I buy them directly from the eye doctor...only a little cheaper and I don't have to go pick them up. (Vision Direct is part of the Drugstore.com family so it's not a fly-by-night company or anything - just FYI, since I know they aren't as well known as 1-800-Contacts.)

    My eye doctor will match their price without making you pay for a full year's supply, plus if there's an issue with any they will replace them (like if one is ripped, etc.). 

    My insurance isn't currently accepted at my normal doctor so I recently went to the Optometry school at the college where I live (I know this wouldn't be common!) and it was actually cheaper for the same contacts - Accuvue Oasis for Astigmatism, and they're pricey little buggers. I'll be ordering through them from now on!

    Last time I looked target optical was cheaper than 1800 contacts for my brand so scout around.

    I've used 1-800 contacts. They were the same as my eye doctor, so more convenient for me.
