The teacher was suspended a few weeks before retirement for showing a video during a history lesson that showed black face during the 1800s. The parents side with the teacher, history is history. The school thinks it's racist to show. Where does parenting stand?
Re: Showing black face, racist?
I mean-- did the teacher preface the video by saying he thought blackface is/was hilarious and a great idea? I am guessing no.
I side with the parents on this.

Black face is racist. Showing a video that discusses/depicts blackface in the context of its racist history is appropriately educating our children on the often uncomfortable and racist history of our nation.
Kind of like how the N word is racist, but teaching Huck Finn is valuable.
Actually, you know what else I think is racist? Whitewashing history to make white people more comfortable.
That's where I stand, at least!

Mine is far from the worst siggy.
