3rd Trimester

Cramping

I am 37 weeks.  All weekend I have had a combination of menstrual like cramping, and the runs (overshare, sorry).  Today the cramps are worse, but they are constant, not like they come and then go away.  Is this normal?  I called my doc over the weekend and she said it was no big deal, nothing to worry about it.  Anyone else going through this?  Thanks for all the advice ladies.

Re: Cramping

  • Any blood, any discharge?  Any movement?  Time them for an hour?

No blood, but I lost my mucus plug over the weekend.  I have some mucusy discharge.  I have some vaginal pressure and it kind of moves up my belly if that makes sense.  I've been having 3-4 an hour.
  • Listen to your doctor. If you don't trust her why is she your provider?

Because I have never labored actively before and I am just not sure what to expect and I am nervous. My provider has told me that she does not want me to labor due to other complications. So she told me to be ob the lookout for the very early signs od laboe and mg symptoms have changed since the weekend. In the past, I have found good, honest advice from this board that have helped me set my mind at ease. Also we are very new to our area after having just relocated across the country from Chicago to nj. So my provider is very new to me. I can't be the only mom to be who is nervous and possibly over reading into my symptoms. I was just looking for advice is all.

Ok, but you already said this " I called my doc over the weekend and she said it was no big deal, nothing to worry about it."

I totally understand and appreciate what you are saying. I guess I am just nervous. I have had a complicated pregnancy in the past with scary complications for the baby. I was just looking for reassurance or the assurance that this is something other moms have gone thru. You are totally right, I am in contact w my ob, and if she isn't worried then i shouldn't be. I am trying very hard to not be overly concerned or paranoid.
  • I would listen to my OB in this case...however if something doesn't seem right trust yourself and advocate for yourself.
